Match report below. Looks like another young Qld ruckman emerging.

Perhaps another ruckman to add to the list of potential draftees at years end.

queensland 72
NT 31
NSW 71

All sides rested some of their best players as they have another game on monday i think. there were plenty of interchanges and the QLD & NSW depth was the overiding factor

Not a great day for playing or watching with a strong and bitterly cold wind at that Oakleigh ground, worsened by the fact the day was stretched out cos the Tasmanian team had flight problems which delayed the start of the second match by 90 minutes.
The results are in both Melbourne papers today and on the Herald Sun website:
Queensland 10.12 (72) defeated Northern Territory 4.7 (31)
Goals: Queensland: Daye 3, Fewkes 2, Savage, Rolfe, Enright, Gibson, Roughsey. NT: Campbell, O’Shaughnessy, Farmer, S.Rioli. Best: Queensland: Hill, Rogerson, Rolfe, Headland, Smouha, Zorco. NT: Cadona, Gugliotta, Measures, Campbell, Stokes, Sharples.
NSW/ACT RAMS 10.11 (71) defeated Tasmania 6.11 (47)
Goals: NSW/ACT Rams: Wilsen 2, McGregor, Van Meurs, Woods, Drum, Wilson, Davies, Colvin, Haretuku. Tasmania: Mihocek 2, Bowden, Peacock, Grima, McShane. Best: NSW/ACT Rams: Bruce, Woods, Wilsen, McGregor, Haines, Cleaver. Tasmania: Rohizat, Bellchambers, McShane, Joseph, O’Garey, Bowden.
i watched the queensland and n/t match and wasnt overly impressed. wasnt a great take for skills, was still junior football, and hard to see how any of them would be playing AFL next year. If they were under 16's then excuse my anaylis, but i think they were 18's..... all very young, aboriginal kids were the reason i hung around.
Any results or reports on todays matches?

QLD 11.9.75 Def NSW/ACT 10.3.63
Better players for QLD were Dayne Zorco, Sam Reid, David Hill, Aaron Rolfe, Ben Jones.
For NSW/ACT, they were Ben Woods, Ryan Davis, Tony Armstrong, Taylor Walker and Ranga Ediriwickrama.
NT 12.11.83 Def TAS 10.8.68
Harder to find better players for these 2 teams, however, guys who played well for TAS were Aaron Corenlius (not available this year), Zane Murphy, Tom Bellchambers and Tyson Mihocek
For NT, Austin Wonaeamirri, Peter Rolfe and Roy Farmer played well. Pretty even performance from the boys from the territory.

I'm truly thankful that the QLD/NSW game was first up today.

Has Kanga started kicking to teammates yet - or is is till anyone's guess where the ball goes after he drops it towards his boot ;)

So he went alright mate?
He started off strongly but was then held reasonably well, IIRC by the smaller Whitecross.

I thought Gibson was good across half-back. Rolfe and Zorco were classy. Gibson looks a good chance of being drafted(father played for Brisbane Bears). I'm sure he will attract interest from Brisbane Lions as well as other clubs. Qld rested 4 quality players. And I'm guessing NSW would have as well?.

muprh will get drafted this year, 3 bogs in the tac cup, not counting his game against the territory.

Very impressive yesterday, and his left foot is pretty special. A good size as well, at 185cm and 80kg.
If Taylor Walker wasn't a scholarship player with the AFC, where would he go this year?
First round?

Wouldn't go that high IMHO. Very very bottom aged, in fact, only makes it into the draft by about 6 days. Not sure what other posters would think, but to me, he'd go in the late 3rd roundish.

I'm not very familiar with the TAC cup and haven't really followed the results until last year.
But is it rare for a very bottom age player such as Taylor to absolutely rip it up as he has done?

I don't know if i'd call him ripping it up. As Gilly said, he did pretty well in the first quarter on Monday, and then was hardly sighted after that. I've only seen him one other time, and he was a little more consistent with his performance.

He did kick 6 goals, 4 goals and 7 goals in consecutive games though.

I can only go by what I have seen. He's a talent alright, and Adelaide might have just found someone who can play, and is a bit special.

yes and yes. Note to the QLD coaching panel, if your player gets knocked out, the idea is to take him off the ground immediately and look after his well-being, rather than let him stumble about.:thumbsd:

Character building.:D
Went and saw Qld v NSW/ACT because we had a friend playing for Qld. Thought Brendan Whitecross played well in defense, especially when i found out he dosen't play there at all. The QLD coaching staff gave him second best on ground. Is he a genuine draft chance?
