I was just informed by a pretty reliable source that Nick Riewoldt is sick of the Saints and through all of the clubs troubles this year he wants out and possible with his friendship with sheeds a move to essendon. 80% sure of thsi one. Comments????? anybody else heard this?

Is Gerard Healy on 3aw your source?
If so, that is not a reliable source :thumbsd:

It was Gerard Healy on 3AW. And we obviously need him, with our complete lack of tall forwards

Who said Riewoldt plays as a KP forward. ;)

Healy is a smart bloke but I can't see this happening. If we're going to be after anyone of his price I'd rather it be a midfielder.

You want him in defence, next to Mal ? Be just like old times.

Why start a stupid thread like this. You've already got Courtney Johns, Lloyd and Lucas in your forward line. Why would you even consider getting Riewoldt?

UMMMM, because he is a good player. Im sure if WCE offered you Judd, you wouldnt say "no thanks, we already have Bartel, Ling, Corey, Ablett and Chapman. Nice of you to offer though"

Gumby has the potential to be as good as Riewoldt so lets just wait for him to develop.:thumbsu:

If Riewoldty wanted to come to Essendon you''d move heaven and earth to get him, no doubt about it.

i very much doubt he will come to essendon... with lucas lloyd, johns, gumbleton, even KB down forward as tall targets we dont need another.. of course his reiwoldt so it would still be positive however it is more likely for us to get the likes of dal santo or judd than reiwoldt...

I'd take Dal Santo if we had the choice

bomberstomake8
7 Jun 2007, 23:03
if that happened lucas would probably be moved to the backline i think..... we cant keep gumby and johns at BB forever and we dont have room for like 4 tall forwards.

adding to that reiwoldts manager was asked on the footy show if nick will leave the saints next year and his manager just walked away and said no comment, seemed like he was hiding something so i recon their is truth to that rumour.. wouldnt be suprised if the eagles got reiwoldt and judd went to st kilda..

would that be an even trade???
i personally think reiwoldt will be more value to WC than judd would to st kilda given that the saints already have a decent midfield adn WC lack a real dominant forward..

I think you are all missing the biggest problem with Riewoldt coming to essendon...

How the hell would we tell him and McPhee apart??? :P

What a forward line.

Hird, Lucas, Lovett
Gumby, Lloyd, Riewoldt

Crazy talk. No idea if Johns will end up making it and in 3-4 years we won't have Lucas and Lloyd. Gumby is probably a safe bet though.

Would be a monumental pickup for us.

point is we dont need him that much.... right now we would get twice as much value with dal santo or judd......... seriously if we got dal santo or judd next year then we would be a premiership threat.. arguably the greatest forward and back lines in the comp and arguably the worst midfeild in the comp... we step up the midfeild we are a top team..

Don't forget to remove a couple of quality players from those forward and defensive lines in order to get Judd. Or they'd be after Ryder and our first round pick... would anyone be willing to pay that?

Dal Santo wouldn't quite be in that price bracket but he's still not free.

yeah thats why i would prefer dal santo to judd.. would never want to get rid of young paddy, our most promising youngster by far... could consider trading MJ a youngster (havent put much thought into it so im not going to name names) and a 1st or 2nd round pick...
paddy is a key player to our future, probably the most important imo as he will either play a FB in the coming years or be one of the best rucks in the comp..

It Depends what essendon would have to give up for Reiwoldt, whether i want him. In my opinion Essendon already has a plethora of Key Position Forwards
- Lloyd, Lucas, Johns, and Neagle and Gumkbleton to come in the future + Bradley being developed currently as a forward also.

Would be nice but it is not really a hole in our team.

Tockleys Trade Mail, is very average at best.

Last year it was Solly for Aker in a done deal......

Del Santo would make more sense for us the Reiwoldt. I reckon we would be better served looking at some of the cheaper pearls on offer from places like Freo !:)

These trades rumours are ridiculous.

1. What would St Kilda want for him. It would have to be our first draft pick and a high profile player.
2. St Kilda have to pay at least 90% of the salary cap. Riewoldt leaving would bring that cap level way below 90% you would think. Therefore Essendon would have to give them a contracted player currently on about 200K (minimum) a year. That would leave one of Lucas, Lloyd or Fletcher (depending who is not on the veterans list next year), Stanton, Jason Johnson or McPhee.
Or we could give them an uncontracted player and SK would pay them ridiculous amounts of money.
3. How does Riewoldt fit in our salary cap ?

Would we trade our first pick and Stanton/McPhee for Riewoldt and maybe a 3rd round pick ?
Personally I wouldn't.

Besides I think my thoughts on the number of KPP's at our club are already well known.

These threads are garbage. You are linked to all these players and they never get close. If the player thinks they are still a chance of winning a flag they stay. If the club wants them, they stay.

1- He will still be at St Kilda next season. Along with Dal.
2- How many big names at their prime have left their clubs in the last 10 years?

Paddy is not up for trade, not under any 'normal' circumstances or not for any player in the league

Since when do Essendon pick up guns like this. Oh i forgot we got Camporeale ha ha and Mal Michael ( 1 decent game since coming over).

These guys will stay where they are or if Riewoldt does go it'll b to Brisbane anyway.

As what was said b4 in a previous thread since when was the last time a player of these players ilk leave their club, not often.
