Seriously why take Richards out of the side?
Seems he doesn't get a chance to prove himself.
His tap outs are much better than that of Bryan and Fraser yet he has been dropped.
Last week some of his tap outs to our blokes were fantastic.
Suppose he'll get dropped off the list like another promising ruckman, Fanning.

I understand your frustration but Stretch does not have it around the ground and I think that Bryan has been brought in as an insurance policy because of our lack of height down back - at least he is another option to play KP if need be!

Bryan gives us a physical presence, Richards doesn't

tis that simple

I think it was Jabso who mentioned it in another thread started by yours truly, Richards' height won't be needed against White and Jamar whereas Bryan's bulk and strength will be better equipped to take on the Demons' ruckmen.

Fanning wasn't up to it at all...but i agree that Richards deserved another week he has been far from our worst and his tap work has been great....well in comparison to what we're used to. But i do like Bryan in the side too as he adds to the ruck and in key positions i don't know why we can't just bite the bullet and play em both with Fraser playin mostly up forward and occasionally on a wing. At least then if this is to be Richards last season then he had a good crack at things and we'll have no questions on whether we should have kept him.

Certainly better placed than most sides to play 3 ruckmen, due to Fraser being able to play pretty much as a midfielder.

Richards probably played one of his best games ever last week

Bryan is still beter though, remember his 3 goals? He won us the game that week. Richards won't ever be able to do anything like that

Ruckmen develop slowly and they both need another year to be imposing. I like them both.

For pure physical presence, Bryan has it all over Richards....for all his ruck tap work Richards simply does not do enough to intimidate. Bryan has a bit of a streak in him and can offer the team mongrel. Ruck tap outs are simply not enough to merit a game week in week out....There is more to rucking then just taps which are often hit or miss anyway.
Richards has been in our system for 6 plus years. Our environment is either not getting the best out of him, or..... is: and this is as good as it gets....either way...greener pastures for stretch come years end.

I agree but to be fair in one sense to Guy he has had bad run with injury. But now that he seems fully fit what other cards can he play besides tap ruck work? Never seen him take a pack mark before. Never seen him at ground level like Josh can do.... it just seems to be tap ruck. I agree he's playing better than he has and has put on a bit of muscle but personally I really can't see a football spark in that body. If he shows abit of domination in tap work then I'm all for him but he hasn't as yet and more of a concern doesn't look like it either.

Just out of interest for those that suggest having 3 talls in the side, who would you drop to have both Guy or Chris in the same side along with Josh?

Richards is nowhere near Byran. We don't need to skinny Ruckman in the side. With Byran we get a guy who throws his body in and has much better skills then Richards. Has been there since 2000 and hasn't shown enough to say he is going to be the difference between and good side and a contender. Not saying Byran is the difference but he has a crack and that's what you want.

No I didn't say that. I want Richards in the team over Bryan. Get Bryan a bit hungry and motivated and give Richards some more confidence. I gave him votes in the MVP.

I like them both - against Melbourne its is really a match up issue more than anything.

We'd get outmuscled with Jamar and White taking on Fraser and Richards.

There is alot to like about Bryan.

On recent form i'd say Maxwell as much as i like him he has been a lil off the last couple.
If thats no good we could always drop Tarks lol

I think It is a good move with Bryan in as we need his bulk and his has the ability to play a KP. He might be played in the backline as we need the height.

Also I think Richards has been playing good footy for the last 2 weeks but I think his not needed as much in this game. Dw I think he'll get 3-4 more games this year and will be retained on the list for 2008.
