If memory serves me correct it was about 15 years ago when the pies traded for buckley and had to name 10 untouchables leaving brisbane to 2 of the rest(bloody good deal by the way)

If we did the same excercise today who would those 10 untouchables be. I thought I would give it a stab. So in no particular order

thomas
Pendles
Didak
Cloke
Swan
Fraser
H Shaw
Ben Johnson
Ben Reid (bit of a stab because i have not seen him but he must have talent)
10th spot of Anthony or Brown- i have not seem mush of these to but i reckon if you are listing your untouchables you need to cover all bases and a young key defender would be essential.

Remember this is not the 10 best just the 10 we would want to keep for the furture of the club. I know i have probably forgotton somebody but its not a bad list I reckon.

My Top 10 would consist of;

Pendlebury
H Shaw
Thomas
Didak
Cloke
Clement
H O'Brien
Johnson
Lockyer
Swan

Buckley, Burns, Rocca, Licuria, Wakelin, and Prestigiacomo not considered because of age.

Fraser very very stiff to miss. (and to a lesser extent Davis and Holland) but the only logic for this would be trading for a big name player.

To get something good, we would have to give up something good in return. I know I'll be open to criticism but Fraser for Riewoldt anyone?

Anthony Rocca N/A, considering yes, he is a very important player to the club, however, nobody would trade for him from now on, based on age...surely. I also class Clement and Burns and even Lockyer in that same respect.

Do we have 10 untouchables? It's a big number.
I can think of 5 players who are "untouchable" at the moment - I won't name them because I don't want to play favourites, but I don't think we have 5 other players in the same category. Age shouldn't have any baring on the outcome as we are talking about 2007.

In a heartbeat, and i'd throw in our first draft pick and my prized collection of footy cards from the early 80's.

Agree with this list. All young very good already or untried top picks. These are the guys we could possibly build a dynasty with.

Maybe a trade the evuates doubtful but maybe, it could set us back though yes we will have an absolute gun in the forward line but we would have to make at least one other trade on a very good ruckman probably for too

No ct 2007 has nothing to do with it. ITs simple a what if excercise related to the bucks trade of 15 years ago. Its basically the 10 players the club would not get rid of in a trade situation. Otherwise I simply would have called the thread the top 10 players.

Nothing wrong with player favorites either CT unless you are on the coaching staff.

depends on the club sniffing around as to who you would name as an untouchable wouldn't it?

Lets assume Brisbane is the club we're trading with for this exercise.

We don't need to put Fraser or Rocca on the list, they have a few handy key forwards all younger than Rocca and have about a million good ruckmen.

The obvious ones are:

Didak
H.Shaw
Cloke
Pendles
O'Brien
Thomas
Reid
Brown
Swan
Johnson

So who would a club take based on who isn't on the list?

Clement
Davis
Lonie
R.Shaw
Presti
Lockyer
Holland
Maxwell
Goldsack
Toovey

If it was the current Brisbane lineup you'd probably have to take Clement or Prest, to settle their defence

Not really, Fraser is a handy player around the ground but isnt the best ruckman. Hardly beats an opponent in terms of tap outs.

I'm just saying, as Riewoldt is an absolute gun and I would love to have him in black and white if he decided to leave the Saints.

If a St Kilda wanted Fraser as a 2nd ruckman or something..

Fraser to St Kilda
Reiwolt to Brisbane
Charman to Collingwood

He's an early draft pick, would you put a single figure pick on the untouchable list?

If we are talking about a trade on the Nathan Buckley level, then you're essentially talking about trading for a Chris Judd.

So if the trade was for Chris Judd, my untouchables would be:

Scott Pendlebury
Dale Thomas
Travis Cloke
Heath Shaw
Alan Didak
James Clement
Anthony Rocca
Martin Clarke (:D)

It's not even 8 players long, but those are the players I don't think we could possibly gain from trading two of for Judd, some because of their ties to the club, others because I think they're our heart and soul, and Martin Clarke because he's definitely going to be at least twice as good as Chris Judd.

That suits me. I'd rather keep them than lose a couple of them to land Judd.

My top 10 (in order) would be:

Pendlebury
Shaw
Cloke
Fraser
O'Brien
Thomas
Swan
Johnson
Reid
Brown

I'm assuming no one would take Bucks, Burns, Rocca, Clement etc.

You can't trade fraser he is our only ruckmen who is holding down his spot in the 22. What a stupid comment. He should be our number one untouchable.

Daicos was not only left off, he was sacked before the start of 1994 (when Bucks started for us)!

Re Charman for Fraser - anyone who thinks we lose out of that clearly has either no idea or simply one eye only. Charman's a much, much better ruckman than Fraser - and although not as mobile, is a better key forward than Frase. I'd take that trade in a heartbeat.

Funnily enough, though, I'd be less keen on Fraser for Riewoldt - we got rid of our underachieving inaccurate mark-the-ball-on-centre-wing "key" forward last year!

I ouldn't be happy to get rid of Fraser, him and Charman in combo would be nice.

Fraser is a poor mans Dean Cox - gets lots of the footy in general play and will run all day.

Very happy with Josh.
