You guys should be absolutely filthy with the ride Essendon got in the final quarter.

No one deserves votes after that effort, very very poor effort. You can not dominate a side like the first qtr and lose. Something is seriously wrong at WCE if they continue not to put sides away, it's just not good enough!!

More possessions, more inside 50's, more shots on goal and you still lose!!

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

WCE have now lost 3 out of the last 5, not premiership material at the moment!

Bad luck guys!

Did you expect anything different against Essendon.

The hands in the back rule was put away tonight. Fletcher & Michael have been getting away with this rule all year & it's about time the umpires opened their eyes to it. Fletcher constantly chops at the arms & got pinged a few times but should have been pinged a few more times

Judd & Kerr being held at every contest before a bounce. One's gotta scratch their head.
That's 3 games in a row to Essendon by a kick where they have benefited by the umps decisions.

Your first quarter was probably the best of the season by anyone.

Top effort!:thumbsu:

Don't worry about the last qtr. 1st qtr, Lucas, drops the mark, Hunter inicidental tap to the arms, free kick, goal.

Anyway, votes...

Gotta say it really does suck the ride that certain Vic clubs get. They just dont like to see interstate teams figuring into the equations but I really think we have had the last laugh in the past few years. Here's to more luck for the future of interstate AFL.

Yep. Annoyed this is continuing but it's half way through the season and there's along time to go. Hopefully with the coming injections into the team (Nicoski, Waters and maybe even Cousins later in the year) we'll find a bit more form. Bitterly disappointing loss though.

Yea the dorkers are hoping for another nine wins in a row too, what's your point?

The fact of the matter is, that game should have been dead and buried at qtr time and wasn't and while WCE continue to not put sides away they are going to keep having similar results like tonight!

That loss was poor!

Excellent first half by Priddis and Rosa, but more importantly where was Kerr??? I'll stop whinging now (before I really get going), but hey, they shouldnt have lost that game :(
On to another, whats wrong with Judd??? Geez, was really missed in the middle in the last quarter. Anyway the break is very much needed, time to regroup and come back firing!

Rosa had lots of it, but he went missing alot, and he's possesions didn't really hurt the opposition. Judd was good, but not as good as channel seven were trying to make him sound. Kerr was dissapointing. Kicking all round was shocking.

Its time to go ..........................Mitch Morton
Its time to go ..........................Mark Seaby
Its time to go ..............................Fletch
Its time to go...........................David Wirrpanda
Its time to stop reading the papers........Adam Hunter

Really disappointed in Mitch's refusal to make and take body contact. He was really poor tonight. He looks like a player that went through juniors purely on class but never had to take the boit between the teeth and sacrifice himslef for the team. Talented but if he believes that it is only about talent then he is at the wrong club.

Seabs is another with talent but he is such a nice person. Problem is I want a 200cm ruckman to be a rotten bas%t&rd who smashes packs and creates space for his talented smalls. Won't get dropped because we don't have another one.

Wirra just looks sore to me. He needs a rest. He is in our best 22 any day but looks sore. Short time in the spelling paddock and then back to finish off the season with his brilliant sparkle.

Hunter got pansed by Lucas big time. I have had the binoculars on him for a while and he is only just going. One time he went for the footy deep in the backline with one hand when all we needed was body on the line. Less spectacular and more grit.

Fletch. Maaaaaaate. Cannot take it any more. You get to 150 games and we look for leadership in tough games amd you went and hid (again).

DUMBIE OF THE WEEK - The Big Unit.
:Lynchie - you are playing on the slowest (but one of the strongest) players in the league and you spent the entire night trying to take marks in the square and not leading.

And finally --- Michael Vosso. You are a a cheat. You will not be surprised by that as you have been one for so many years you accept and believe it yourself.

Venting is good therapy.

My point is this. With the big fella just standing in the square it makes our forward line stagnant.

Watch the tape and see how many times after the first quarter we just bombed forward. When there was alead we got it to a loose player close enough to goal to score. When we didn't we kicked points from distance.

We lapsed into becoming stationary deep in attack and allowing those rats to gang up on us.

Sometimes forwards have to keep leading and keep leading as a sacrifical act to open us space for team mates. I think that he forgot the team things. He is one of my favourites but cops a whack for tonight.

I'm not getting off us. We will win the flag but we we were sub standard tonight (apart from that scintillating opening).

We need the rest. The boys have been huge with the off field stuff, media hysteria and injury issues. The problem is we strive for perfection and when we come up short, those who aren't good enough get exposed.

Tell me something that kerr did that was of any effectiveness. look at 3 of his last 4 games and i can be serious haviing a crack at him. :) And was fletcher seriously that bad for the amount of time on the ground? Cant just target him when braun and kerr arent doing much

Apart from the fact that Kerr has a tag every game and Fletcher runs around as an outside receiver?

Really Fletcher only has to receive the ball and not stuff up the pass to the next player, how hard is it? Fletchers disposal is often below par, even worse when he cant get onto his left.

The reason Fletch cops it is because this is becoming the norm for him. Players like Kerr and Braun do have down games but they have some pearlers too and that makes up for it!

The difference between the 2 teams was one player James Hird. BOG by a mile, he was and is fantastic. He also sets up so many of their plays and is a complete team player. Having said that:
Staker: Best game I've seen him play, both ends of the ground.
Stenglein and Priddis: Can't separate, both playing tagging run with roles and still attacking strongly. Real team men.
Rosa: One of his better games, got in and got dirty, well done.
Bones: Not one of his best, made a few errors, but been so good all year and a lot of pressure back there. He'll rebound.

Bewildered by the Bones love in even by the commentators. His worst game of the year. Maybe the worst of his career. Outmarked and embarassed by every opponent he had all night. Sure he got the ball and run out of defense but it means nothing when you conceede 6 down the other end. Thats the difference between Nicoski and Brett Jones really.

You guys should be absolutely filthy with the ride Essendon got in the final quarter.

did you even watch the last game? im not saying essendon got the bad deal but their were plently of free kicks that should have gone our way aswell towards the end of the match... lucas was being held too at every opportunity like kerr and judd. there was like 5 holding the ball free kicks that i can think of that should have gone our way....

the umpiring fell even tonight so dont say that crap about essendon were given victory from the umpires again. thats happened pretty much every time essendon win a match...

Several players are having a very ordinary season. Hunter, Glass and Lynch are out of form, as is one of my favourites David Wirrapunda who they are playing the forward line to find some confindence. At best we are the best side in the comp, but at worst we(the reining premiers) loose to developing sides, who are 2/3 years behind producing the football we do. Some players aren't standing up to keep their spots. Coxy was beaten last night for the first time in years.

Stenglein, Bones, Braun and Selwood are having a very good year. The break will be handy as we look to have Cousins, Embley, Butler, Nicoski and Graham in the mix. And if Sampi is playing good footy he'l be up for selection.

Until then, Go the MIGHTY EAGLES!

Sledges
Fletcher - innefective
Braun - innefective
Kerr - innefective
Rowan Jones - Costly and innefective
Cox - innefective overall, cheap disposals and bad ruckwork
Stenglein - disposal is average at best, go back to pure tagging.

slaps
Morton - Tried hard and was one of the only real playmakers in the forward line apart from Staker, 75/120 minutes played. More experience at the highest level and a few good preseasons and he will be very good.
Staker - kouta esk, very good at both ends of the ground, easily his best game, just keep it up badger. great decision making all game.
Brown - Needs another couple of preseasons but was very good in his limited game time. 78/120 minutes
Rosa - best midfielder for us today

Essendon had the far more influentual big men and they killed us, hille dominated the ruck, lloyd was ok, Fletcher & Michael were great in defence and Lucas was awesome in the forward line. Hird, Peverill and Winderlich cur us up in the midfield.

5-priddis- another brilliant game.
4-staker- how good can he be?? keep it up
3-hurn-did not notice alwyn, but hurn caught the eye, brilliant goal too.
2- judd- even injured looks a cut above, will burn after break.
1- rosa- ball-magnet, coming along very nicely

kerr, cox, wirra, hunter were very quiet, but will lift after break as will everyone with competition for spots and some guns returning.

you can see how good brown will be with a couple of preseasons under him, plays very well early when fresh, but just tires being so young,
keep him in for awhile cos he will be awesome.

Looking good, heads up.

Loved the commentators who said Priddis had gone quiet in the last quarter, hadn't had a touch, then, "He must of heard you, he just got one, no two," then "he's had five in less than five minutes"
Guess what guys!! He was sitting on the bench for the first 12 to 15 mins. of the quarter, when all the damage was being done by Essendon, he wasn't even on the field. This from observant ex players. Well done Schwarze and Watson.

It can be very hard to assess performances off the television.

I know that when we play at Subiaco, I go to the match and watch "the game". Then I catch the replay on TV and I watch "contests", without having to worry about the score.

It can give yield quite different assessments about best players.
