It has very much been absent this season don't you think?
The experience of 2005 really hurt and in 2006 the boys dug deep and played some inspiring football full of belief, passion, commitment and hunger. The team achieved the ultimate, but where is that hunger now?
Is the loss of Cousins affecting the way the side goes about it? What does it take to impose some physicality on sides like the Lions were so masterful at during their reign.
Our premiership window had only jarred open in 2006 and the next few years expected to be wide open as impressive youngsters like Priddis and Rosa and fringe players the Jones boys and Staker continue to improve similar to the Hunters and the Embleys of years past.
I am not doubting the sides ability for one moment but I guess I am voicing by dissapointment of our performance in a facet of the game that was such a key factor of our success last year.

Where's the fire...sitting here in Perth at the Cousins residents...
But seriously mate, don't panic yet. This loss will sting, they got some 14 days until their next game, it will sting hard...and in my opinion give the boys the kick in the arse they need. Indeed they've been cruising to this point, but look where they are on the ladder! No matter what they are still in the top 4 at the end of the weekend, and their is much much room for improvment with Embers, Cousins (hopefully) still to come back in.
It's no good peaking in June, and the Eagles are far from that yet...the fire in the belly will ignite!!! :thumbsu:

Not panicking. Whilst on an off day we can still match it with most teams there is no doubt that our finishing skills and decision making up forward and our tackling and committment and never die attitude are well down on last year. The reality is that this year there are 4 or 5 football sides who are playing much better than we are and it is going to take a massive effort to hold them at bay as the season progresses. Statements need to be made.

The loss to Hawthorn should have stung them enough to want to play hard footy AWAY for a win. Not this 1 and a half quarter cr@p.
We have to win at least another 3 away games play the majority of our home games to make top 2 - I think we should get top 4 but top 2 could be a stretch -depends a lot on how other teams go also. - Dont want to rely on others losing.
