Say that all three players were coming back next week. Who would you take out of the team. Cloke would come in for akland, Stevo for ? Eddie for ?

What is the point of such a hypothetical post ......since they are not coming back next week..........if Simmo and Bentick were both 202cm who would be first ruck? .......ahhh the mind boggles

Blackwell would make way for Stevo.
Cloke for Ackland
Betts would have to wait after a performance like tonight. Wiggins has taken his spot up front as the harassing forward, Lappin is hitting the pack spillages........not an obvious spot ATM.:thumbsu:
Very hard to find 3 players to make way for this trio. Think Blackwell would have to make way for Stevo, and the other 2 might have to come back via the Ants, and wait for their opportunity.

Ackland has been very good the last couple, not sure I'd replace him with Cloke if he were right for this week.

Eddie Betts = Spud
everytime he gets the ball people just go nuts cause hes aboriginal, he can never be compared to davey (aaron).
we r a better team without him, and in due time anderson will replace him and take his role of our quick pacy aboriginal that we need in the team.

I thought Russel was great this week. Blackwell deserves to be dropped before Russel based on last night

Blackwell gathered 10 disposals and spent only 27% of the TOG.

While it was an improved performance Russel was still turning the ball over a lot. The type of game we play we can't afford those turnovers as we will get murdered on the rebound.

On the rare occasion he did turn the ball over it was when he kicked the ball to a contested situation in the forward line at the top of the square. It wasn't his fault if Fish and Fev couldn't take the opportunity so its wasn't a real 'turn over'.
Russell was fantastic with his run through the middle and quality use of the ball. More! I want to see more!

Yer he really worked hard but only had 60% eff. Has to improve that but still he has some pace.

Don't get me wrong, im a HUGE blackwell supporter. Was calling for his recall into the side way before he got his 40 possessions in the VFL and got recalled into the senior side. I just don't think that based on last night Russel should be the one hypothetically dropped. I want both of them in the side. I have great faith in both

I reckon Pagan might be more surprised by anybody as to how the midfield and the other forwards have stepped up.
Our previous plan was kick it to Fev and try to get Eddie front and centre. No plan B.

If Pagan is already discussing Aisake coming into the side, I'd say he is looking for 1 more tall, to get Setanta out of the ruck...so maybe Cloke would be rushed into the side too.
There's no way they'll drop Ackland, he has been one of our most valuable this year, we'd be screwed this season without him for sure!

I agree Eddie Betts is very overrated. His ability to stand up and be strong in a contest when he's really needed is extremely poor.

In some points I actually agree. He is only "on song" 1 out of every 3-4 matches, in the next few years we cannot afford inconsistency and as for his "invaluable forward tackling" the other forwards should be made an example of until there forward pressure gets to the desired level of the team. Fev has proved when he has been given a spray or a rocket up him his pressure is fantastic, there is no reason for him to not keep it up week in and week out though he has been great up forward in the last 2-3 weeks. I find the slackest on forward pressure is sometimes Matty Lappin, he just drops his head and watches the ball get carried away instead of giving a 2nd effort.

Is Betts really that inconsisent though? Didn't he get 20 odd goals last year? IMO thats all he has to do. He's not one of our main forwards. If he can continue his extreme forward pressure on top of getting 20 goals a year, his job is done IMO. Say Fev gets 80odd goals a year, Fisher 30odd, Waite 20odd (depending where he plays), Betts 20odd, Lappin 20odd, thats all we need. Thats a very good performance by our forwards, and they are on their way to achieving that this year

I have a funny feeling I could find a place for Nick Stevens in the middle, why would you keep him out of the side and wait for a loss, I would prevent a loss by picking him.
FACT: If he had played all year we would be 5 or 6 wins.

Not really. Unless a star is returning from injury, say Nick Stevens, I wouldn't change a winning formula (unless one player is clearly out of form).
