View Full Version : Is Fev really playing that badly, or is it because...
... we're starting to look for better options? Fev made a lot of good leads, and the majority of them were ignored. Mostly because of Waite and Fisher's work, and the confidence to back other players kicking goals rather than relying on Fevola all the time. But yeah, he did miss a few shots that he's usually get... but he had plenty more opportunities considering the ball we were winning and kicking up there.
It is great to see that we now have a forward line that is not one dimensional. I always held the belief that if Waite and Fisher were fit and injury free, they'd be a huge bonus to the forward structure. Looks like they are.
Look out if Fevola gets some form into him.

i think fev's using himself as a decoy to get as many opposition around him as he can and free up other forwards like fisher, waite, lappin etc :) we had at least 10 goal kickers tonight or was it more:thumbsu:

Copped a huge corky a few weeks back, and then a sore foot last week.
Fev isn't the kind to battle through it......more the pity me type.....
The split round should see him shake the niggles and come out firing.
If he had his kicking boots on he could have had 3-4 goals the past couple of week nstead of 1-2.
Great to see a forward struture that other teams have to constantly try to counter, rather than start the night.....and end the night...with 3 guys on Fev and shut us down...
I really think that the fact that Waite, Fisher and Red have been able to play games together consistently (i.e. no big injuries) has helped, but also Fev, in sacraficing his own game to get the other guys into it.
He has a big Ego and it can't be easy, but would he rather win or kick a bag (The Grant Thomas - Pavlich question ;)).
Wait until he is fit and hopefully we'll see and even more potent forward structure.:thumbsu:
11 goal kickers tonight I think.
On another thread someone spoke of a foot injury bothering him.
I really think it is fantastic to see us get a spread of goal kickers, rather than relying on Fev to kick a score for us to win, like we did last year. He may be carrying a couple of niggles, but in the last 2 weeks, he has come up against Harris and Wakelin, 2 of the better FB's in the comp.

Fev had a bad one .....dropped a couple he should have taken........we didnt see explosive leads......and he didnt fly for any contested marks with confidence..........suspect he is carrying a niggle or 2.........also the downside from the increased activity of Waity ,Fish and others inside 50 probably has lessened the space he has to work in........we are kicking higher scores with a spread than with fev dominating our scoresheet.......and he is still drawing opps best key back........structure looking much better now

Doesn't look fully fit to me...but with our other forwards standing up, he'll be getting less attention you would think, and should have a much better second half of the season. The break will help, if he is playing hurt.

Fev doesnt need to play good with carlton already kicking 20 goals a game, just shows how good we will be with him on fire

Definitely carrying an injury. Lost his ability to carry leads for 30-40 meters, and struggling to kick goals from long range. With Fev, you always wonder whether its in his head when thats happening, but he's been working so hard at ground level and doesn't appear frustrated - just not quite at the level he has been physically.
He missed a couple of goals he'd normally slot from 50 out in each of the last couple of games- add those in, and his numbers look much more normal. Factor in the other options we've had up forward, in particular Waite, and that explains his drought. He's still leading the league goalkicking though...
