Pagan after tonights match against port:

Pagan said the possibility of two brothers playing for the Blues in the near future was also a possibility with Setanta’s younger brother Aisake showing good form in the VFL.“I hope Aisake plays well tomorrow (with Northern Bullants). We could have Setanta playing forward and Aisake in the ruck. He’s going well at VFL level and he’s really knocking on the door. I hope he has a good game tomorrow,” Pagan said.
However Pagan said he wouldn’t be putting a time frame on the younger of the O’hAilpin’s debut.
“He’s pretty close to it. I can’t say when it’s going to happen and it’s about balance and who turns up and injuries but he’s looking quite good at the moment,” Pagan said.

Why has sentanta been playing foward lately?

Started fowards tonight, but played mostly in the ruck.

Two main reasons:
1. Lack of big forwards for him to man up
2. Cloke gone - need another ruckman.

Pretty sure Pagan said Setanta to play in the backline with Aisake coming up......wonder if he was thinking of Buddy Frankling next week when he said "Gee I hope Aisake plays well Sunday".

Would leave Waite to run around up front again.

on the subject of rucks, I though Ackland competed well yesterday. If he can show that sort of commitment he may become useful with a young ruckman coming through. We need him to lead the ruck if Aisake is going to come in.

I'm really looking forward to Aisake's debut. He is not your usual 200cm+ ruck type. He is absolutely unbelievable at ground level, with amazing speed and endurance, and has a fantastic long left foot kick. Setanta will need to be used in defence at times, against big forwards, and this is when Aisake will be useful. A lot will depend on how Aisake goes in the Bullants today, and how the coaches assess the Hawks likely forward structure. Perhaps they'll put Setanta on Franklin, and use Aisake as the 2nd ruck. :)

Agree they were both very good, but man I'd love to see both Irishmen in the team. If Aisake is anywhere near as enthusiastic as his brother, it will be fantastic to watch. :D

I can't remember ever being more excited about a player that hasn't made their debut yet that wasn't a top 2 draft pick.

After seeing him in the Bullants, he looks like he could be quite a player for us and solve our ruck problems. I really hope that he gets an opportunity soon to show us what he has got at the top level. :thumbsu:

If Aisake is as enthusiastic as Setanta then we are going to see a couple of very big irish lads who arent going to be taking a step backwards playing for the club...

And if they stick up for each other, then it is going to be one sorry sob who manages to clean up either of them...

I cant wait to see how Aisake goes in the ruck for us

Our drafting at times over the last few years has been to say the least terrible but well done to the guy who identified and picked these two Brothers.

he's already 30.

But having 3 of them would be great.

I think the O'halpin family is very large and they have a few brothers.

The famous gaelic footballer is Sean Ogg who is 6'2 approx (188cm) and I remember seeing him towel up James Hird a few years ago in the international game.

Carlton werent interested in him when Setanta came over as he was already 27.......but the following year he spent 2 or 3 weeks at Carlton during pre season (IIRC he stayed on after an international series in Oz) to see what he could learn and take back to Ireland regarding our training methods.
