View Full Version : Ackland benefits from Setanta’s competition
Ackland to me, has always appeared to be a player, playing below his capability. I rarely agree with GT, but he questioned whether Ackland’s priority was footy. I think this is the key issue. With Setanta being thrown into the ruck, he has provided spark and aggression, and was threatening Acklands role as the #1 ruck. You can sense Ackland responding in recent weeks, with some improved efforts. I thought their at-training fighting was symbolic in a way. This hot competition for spots, may be just what Ackland needs. Stkilda’s rucks were always pathetic and meek, and he never had any competition. With Setanta’s recent efforts, and Aisake pushing for selection, and Cloke, Hampson being in contention next year, he can see serious competition developing. :)

True aye. Good post. I bet the fight with Setanta made him especially want to do well because i bet he'd love to kick Setanta's ass and be better than him lol. Has certainly played well the last few weeks

Kudos to ackland!!! I have new found respect for him. I think towards the end of the 2nd quarter, absolutely flattened Chad Cornes in front of the interchange, and Cornes' opponenet, Bannister, went on to kick a goal. The bump was great, almost felt like one of them slo-mo ones where u can see all the muscles ripple.
