View Full Version : Fevola's Lack of Input? - I Don't Agree..

I honestly don't agree with what everyone has been saying about Brendan Fevola's lack of input.

Brendan in the last 2-3 weeks has started to lead harder, shepherd more often, handball more often (especially inside 50), and just all sorts of team things I have noticed of him. Another big stat is that from rounds 1-6 Fev gave away 11 free kicks and received 6 and from Rnds 7-11 has given away just 2 and received 8.

You also have to take in the fact that another big key forward influence has been Jarrad Waite's move, he has booted 11 goals in the last 3 games, Brad Fisher 8 in the last 3 games. Which adds more targets apart from Fev in the forward line.

He's working hard big Fev of that there is no doubt. I just wish he had his kicking boot on too.

I don't think everybody is saying it. He just isn't getting the same volume of opportunities the past couple of weeks and we are better off for it as we are no unpredictable in attack. Fev is now just an important cog in a team effort rather than the standout messiah. I hope he is happy with that as long as we win. Was a little concerned last week about him being annoyed about Waite not shepherding for him as Waite was a legitimate chance of taking that mark and and then taking a mark a split second after the final siren, he seemed to be miffed a little about his own goal tally rather than immediately celebrating the win. Fev will find perspective and realise that Coleman medals are nothing compared to team success, if he hasn't already.

I am more than happy with Fev as he is the perfect foil and if they start dropping off him and going to Waite or Fish, Fev will cut loose again.

watching the first quarter of last nights game especially, his chasing sheparding and tackling resulted in a couple of goals directly as well as the good pick up and hand ball over to murp for another. we have become more unpredictable and thus can see a more positives than negatives from lack of opportunities for Fev. Honestly a big bag will come in the near future, due to this also, well i hope anyway. Keep doing the 1 per centers, things will come.

Cheers

Last year Fev winning the Coleman was the only thing this team had to hang its hat on.......that does huge things for a guys Ego......and will take some time to shake that mentality.

In the long run though, Fev would be quite happy kicking2-3 goals and play finals....than kick 5-6 each week and win the spoon.

I'm glad we could start to do this without losing Fev.
Saints had to trade Locket.....Hall.....before they could get multiple targets going..........its great that he can learn to share his forward line.:thumbsu:

My comments re his output were with regards to his fitness which I don't think is 100%. His endeavour however, in the last few week has been exceptional........no arguing with umps........less snapping at teammates..........great stuff.:)

Fev's been great despite his 3 in 2 weeks. He's been an extra option in the mid-field and is helping us get forward to start with.

At the start of the year, most of the posters on here agreed that they would prefer to see a more even spread of goal kickers, rather than relying on Fev to kick the majority of our score so we had a chance to win.

And, like Bluebear said, i'm sure Fev would prefer to kick 2-3 a week and play final, than kick 5-6 and win the Spoon.

It's great to see Waitey and Brad Fisher getting amongst it. If we can all kick two or three goals a week, we'll keep winning games," Fevola says.

"I'm just a bit of a decoy at the moment so other forwards have been stepping up. We've kicked 20 goals the last three weeks so it's very exciting."
