View Full Version : Possible Matchups VS Hawthorn.

Bentick's My Man.

Just seeing the possible matchups for this friday night and what everyone thinks.

My tips are for;

Saddington VS Boyle (Hoping Saddo can hurt Boyle on the rebound)

Thornton VS Franklin (Matchup that possibly could decide the game, when Buddy fires, so do the Hawks)

Murphy VS Crawford (Like to see how our future champ goes against the former brownlow medalist)

Bentick/Koutoufides VS Mitchell (Both very hard in and under players, Mitchell's clearance work far more superior though i feel and that's where Kouta may come into play off the bench to even it up a touch)

Waite VS Croad (This one could really test where big Waitey is at..)

Thoughts please??

Like that idea, and I agree with BMM by putting Bentick on Mitchell. Thornton should start on Franklin, and I guess we've also got Saddington to go there is Thronton is getting towelled up.

One thing we do now have is options, and the Hawks will also need to be wary of our midfield, and they will have to cover our forwards as well.

Over a while now, Hawthorn's run has killed us. Carlton now have a team with a bigger engine, and more skill than previously. They will tire and let a team back into a contest, but for the first time in a few years, I actually think we may beat them.

Franklin is one of the form forwards of the game, but Carlton have a number of options to go with him. If it was the start of the year, O'Hailpin would get the job, but I think they will start Thornton on him. Hopefully Saddington can contain Boyle, but if a change needs to be made, then Thornton will go to Boyle, and Waite or O'Hailpin will go to Franklin.

Croad would most likely pick up Fev, Brown will probably take Waite

Keep our forward line setup intact. We've got fantastic talent up there, which is why I want to see Waite in there - besides he's better up forward than he is down back.

dont think that bannister will get hodge as we will be tagging someone that is in our attacking 50 as hodge plays int he back line.

T-bird to lance
Saddo to boyle

Croad- Fev
Brown- waite (Which it hink could destroy them with his leap and just his a more slippery player that i dont think will suit hima nd waite could be our go to man.)

Were will whitnall play?
who will be fisher?
who will play on simmo or who will he play on ?

Hodge plays everywhere. Recently he has been starting in the middle or the Forward line. As Danny Jacobs has taken Hodgeys spot in the back half.

Croad - Fev
Brown - Waite (Dont under estimate Brown, so far this year he has played on Reiwoldt, Lucas, Pav, Hansen and has beaten them all)
Gilham - Fisher
Jacobs/Roughead - Whitnall

How will the midfield match up, i think we have a significant advantage in the midfield.

Who will play on

Mitchell
Lewis
Hodge
Crawford
Bateman

Boyle- Thornton (He'll take Boyle to the cleaners and run off him with ease)
Franklin- Bannister/Saddington (Franklin is basically an oversized small forward so throw Bannister on him and then if that fails switch Saddo with Thornton and free up Bannister for something else
Mitchell- Bentick always gets smashed against Mitchell but its hard to see an alternative. Something for the match commitee to consider
Hodge- Carrazzo if in the middle/Wiggins if Hodge is running around the backline
Crawford-Houlihan

As for Fev, Waite and Fish... let the Hawks worry about those matchups.

If Buddy starts to look like kicking a bag I see Setanta as an option.....even though I know he is improving rapidly in the ruck duels for us and its like robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak.
