This may be a bit quick but after today's game I am convinced he will be at least as good as Sandilands, if not better.

His ruck work today was something special.

With a bigger body and some more experience he will be a key player for us.:thumbsu:

i have no doubt he will be a better player than sandi

Yep I think we may have found something special there.

Just love the competitive look in his eye. Impressed with the way he threw himself about in the air the other week and the way he slid in and hit that Richmond player shows hes not afraid to do the tough stuff when the ball hits the deck.

Some of his tap work was sublime in the 2nd half and 2 goals from 3 games is a pretty good start.

I'm excited.

He certainly played well Vs The Tiges. A big guy that does the 1%'s. Gotta love it.

Even at this stage of Warnock's career, he is far better than Sandilands will ever be.

Sandilands is a lumbering collosus - whose (lack of) work around the ground undoes his dominance at the tap downs.

That is the cheapest most incorrect shot at Sandilands i've EVER heard .

Lets not forget Sandilands is still very young, Spider Burton didn't hit his straps until he turned 29.

The Sandiland/Warnock combo will be dominant in years to come.

I expect Sandilands to really hit his straps in 3 years time.

He looked fantastic, and I really liked him in the forward line too.

Is Sandilands and Warnock a potentially good rucking combination, or because they are both huge will that be a problem?

I think they'll be a very good combination. Warnock is outstanding at ground level - he apparently has a longer reach than Sandi when they are standing together, arms stretched up - his forward work is good and all he really needs is a couple of years and a few more kilos. I'd really like to see him signed sooner rather than later as I can see the Vics lining up to go after him. A club like Richmond, who have very little ruck wise other than Simmonds would be very very happy if they could get Warnock in the PSD.

Ackland and Cloke looked good rucking against Pattison and polak. I agree he's a great talent, but lets judge Robbie after a game in which the opposition actually have a ruckman.

He will be known as the first 7 foot AFL aerialist.

He and Sandi could go down in history like Greenidge/Haynes, Lillie/Marsh, The woodies.

Cant wait. :)

He has shown the "P" word. Many of our players have, but look where we are.

His tape work was very good. Generally went to the advantage of the smalls and Rarely had his taps sharked directly by the opposition.
He actually seems to look where to tap it before hand rather than using premeditated actions, like Sandi does a lot.

An alternative interpretation is that 15 clubs have spent countless hours viewing footage of Sandilands rucking and are better able to read him. Warnock would be an unknown quantity so opposition players are relying purely on what they see in the middle rather than instructions.

Is the Warnock that plays for Melbourne, Our Big Nockers brother? If so, could there be a potential Josh Carr type "go home to play with bro" scenario in a few years?

Who did that? Not Josh surely? TLo?

Or was that just a random comment?

I have a feeling it may have been another young Victorian ruckman wearing the number 34 for Freo - think back about 12-13 years ago estibador. If I'm right, I hope we don't have a repeat offender.

Right gotcha. Yeah that makes sense.

Warnock seems a bit tougher than that guy though. I hope anyway.

Luckily the demons have a fairly strong ruck division so there is little chance of them chasing him this year. If his brother was at the blues or saints I'd be worried.

Welcome to Jeff's world!! :D

You wait till he tells you that your disagreement means your part of a conspiracy. He'll want a stat dec that you never got a discount on your waffle iron.

Of course, he hasn't figured out that if you say enough really, really stupid things, everyone will disagree with you and it will look like a conspiracy.

I'm not sure how true that is about Josh carr. He's not the only guy to want out of Alberton. Think Mathew Bode. Nick Stevens. Jarrod Scofield.

But I think you're worrying unecessarily.

^ I doubt it, all draftees get the same 2 year contract do they not?

ImperialPurple
14 Jun 2007, 13:50
I think they can get as long a contract as the club's want to give them - with 2 years being the minimum. I think it's pretty unlikely that Robbie got a 3 year contract, seeing as the two players we took before him in 2005 (Drum and Ibbotson) only got 2 years... and both just recently signed on for another 2 years... so come on Nockers - what are you waiting for????

If his management is smart they're probably trying to delay negotiations as far into the season as they can. He's at the stage where every game he plays will probably improve his value.

nicho_magic thought that we were trying to recruit Melbourne's Warnock, and countered that he thought that Big Nockers brother has a 3 year deal. Robbie is out of contract at seasons end.
