Should the blues keep on trying to win a few more games this season and finish 12th, 13th around that regio or should we sit back and go for good competitive games and get more experience for the youth. If we don't win any more games this season we will get the #1 pick no matter where we finish. So my question is do we go for the wins or do we go for the picks? I personally would like to go for the wins but what would you do?

I'll take either.
I really don't care.

Wins for sure. We are too good now to tank and finish right at the bottom.
We CAN do it-we can win most, if not all, games that we play from now on in. I'm not expecting finals, but another 4 or 5 wins would be fantastic.

Did you see the joy on the faces of the players? Do you see the confidence, the belief? They don't feel like they need an extra 18 year old who will hit his straps in 2-5 years depending on position, in order to be successful. These young blokes are coming through now, backing each other, and they want to win for each other now. With Kouta, Lappin, Lance, Fev and Stevo still around the club, they have a little bit of experienced know how to complement their abilities. Losing will breed frustration and players will start to wonder if it will ever happen and think about going elsewhere to be successful.
Tanking half a season is dishonourable, and these players are anything but dishonourable.
where's the option for win as many games as possible.

Losing 11 games will likely destroy the players confidence.
Win as many as we can. It will help the players develop, and could be just as important as a number one draft pick (maybe not, but still important).

my thoughts exactly. this winning feeling i've had for the last two weeks has been magnificent. no need to tank anymore, wins bring bigger crowds, bigger crowds mean more money, more money keeps everyone happy so keep the winning feeling going i say.

forget no1 pick its gone if we wanted it we wouldnt have tryed the last 2 weeks. Surly we won to many now anyway
we should be pushing to move up and finish as high as we can. No way we'll finsh last not if Richmond forgotten how to win. they got their name on the wooden spoon. ;)
I'd Rather watch us Win then lose every week so please no more loses for awhile lets Catch up and over take our Loses.

why don't we lose all of next year and the next 2 after that so we get a whole side of top 5 picks....
i think this side has taken a huge step over the last two weeks and are ready to start to compete with the competition again now.
6-10 wins will be the outcome this season and it will be fantastic for the club to rise from the rubbish losing mentality that has plagued this fantastic club for 6 years now.

I hate it when people ask this question! They asked Kouta the same thing on TFS yesterday and he just laughed and said "no chance".
Confidence is better then any draft pick!

At least the players still maintain the Carlton spirit, http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=336812 for more.

Half way through the season, and we have won 4 games.
I see no reason why that can't be 8 by seasons end.
We play Brisbane, Port, North and Bombers gain...we have been in winning positions in al lthose games
And we also play Demons twice
We only need maybe one or two more quality players and a coupl eof depth players. This year we will have the freedom to draft for need over grabbing best quality.
How can you even ask a question like that?! I've had enough of losing and I think that this is the year that we stop our run of wooden spoons and start moving towards the finals. Like knockout said, some people won't be happy until we have a full team of no 1 draft picks.

How about this for an outrageous concept........WIN!!
Aren't you "pick #1" people sick of losing.
I've seen more losing games the last 5 years than in 40 years of following the mighty fkcing Blues!!!
Just WIN!!
Win win win .....that's what it's all about..does anyone believe clubs tank...imagine finishing off the year say 10th with 8-10 wins what a momentum to take into next year with stevo fit and more beef on the likes of gibbs and murph....hell we may even get into the eight but let's just concentrate on beating Hawthorn this week....
We must keep winning, and getting a winning culture through the club. There is no doubt we'll still end up with a pretty high first round pick in the draft, and from what I have seen so far this year of the kids, we will still get a good one, no matter where we finish.
Don't worry about the num 1 pick, Carlton will still get an early pick

I agree with my good friend here.
Furthermore, something that often gets left out of the debate in these things is how much more attractive we are as a club, to sponsors, members, prospective players via PSD or trade, and for reataining players who are out of contract when we win and look like we are going places.
Give all this up for an extra kid who may or may not make it?
Win at all costs.
No more of these threads please.

Theres a good chance that we wont leave third last anyway, and the difference between a #1 pick and a #3 pick probably isnt that bad. Could even work out better for us (Judd was #3)

With due respect to the opening poster, this matter should not even be up for debate.

You need to learn how to win. It's taken us 6 weeks to get that right and most of last year. It's probably why Richmond are falling away atm despite being in games early on.

At some point or another you have to start winning games, so the kids develop quicker and we develop a winning culture. I look at kids like Walker and Carrazzo and Wiggins develop, and I wouldn't trade those wins in for nothing. Keep the good times rolling I say. Who knows, we might be half a decent team come the end of the year.

What a stupid suggestion after the way we have played in recent weeks. We only lost to the Adelaide Crows and beat the highly fancied Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide, who have been in the top eight for most of the season. I can't believe we are even discussing it.
