Good win. We were challenged and we came through which was pleasing. I don't actually think the umps favoured us that much, Collingwood were stupid enough to keep putting hands in the back, admittedly the Robbo decision was probably bad, but what about the Brock McLean free for throwing the ball into the chair? It moments like that where you could almost put down your glasses and walk away from the game forever.:thumbsd: Anyways...

The first quarter was the best footy I have seen ANY team play this year, it was brilliant to watch. Godfrey right foot goal would have to be my highlight, it will remain with me forever. :D

Robbo was worth his weight in gold again, I'm really liking Bate at CHF, takes a great mark. Dutchy was superb on Anthony Shocca. Bruce's disposal was absolutely appalling, almost to the point of being comical.

I really liked James Frawley today too

Pretty exciting stuff from the boys today expeically through the first quarter. Collingwood really dropped numbers and stifled the game up after that.

Anyway Nathan Jones really needs to improve his kicking

your kidding me right !

that was the robbery game of 2007'... yeah the pies (espec Rocca) were pretty stupid for the constant & somewhat delicate hands in the back ( this dumbarse rule needs abolishing) ...and yup, the Pies paid the price !
but you lot , ohh no - do the same thing, any the many other dumb things you lot did ....and it's - play on - play on .

if you could'nt see the differance here, there's seriously something wrong with you.... far too biased to see passed your own nose.

arr well.....enjoy your 2nd LUCKY win - and enjoy the rest of the season.

How good is it, we get to stick it too those ferals twice is one year!!! A few points

Brock is an unlucky man, #13 has never played footy,
Robbo pushed him in the side,
Cloke kicks like Holland,
Good to see deliberate applied as it was meant to be, Ward was unlucky
Bate is a star,
Jones is a first quarter specialist, Brock the last quarter specialist
Rocca is the dumbest man to ever play AFL

Admit it - if we'd been on the end of that umpiring performance this forum would be burning with people going nuts. They were abysmal - we were just lucky to be on the good end of it more often than not.

that game made me nervous to the end. i dont like collingwood and i tipped the dees.

i dont know if its just me, but melbourne dont seem to try to maintain possession when in front late in the game. a few stupid kicks "cough cough davey" and you turned the ball over too easily and gave collingwood another crack.

u did the same against us and jono kicked a winner, at least today ur players flooded back so they had nothing to kick into.

all in all good win, best of luck

We did it in the last 2 minutes, but you can't start it too early, I think we getting the balance of it right, we worked the ball well at the end, and got it to Robbo to add the sealer, even if it wasn't needed.

What a good win over my most hated team. Some of the pIes supporters i was with today were so feral. Anyway, Robbo awesome, Bate great hard leading, Brock's a star and good on Benny for absolutely towelling up Rocca. 2 possesions! HAHAHA

Love listening to 3AW though, Tony Shaw having a sook everytime something went against the Pies, loved it.

Everybody refers to Robo's first goal in the last quarter but what about Brock's throwing of the ball over the boundary line and the subsequent 50 and goal that followed. I reckon they cancel each other out. Anyway Melbounre still would have won

I was at the game today, what a sensational win! I had to sit with a heap of Collingwood supporters and all I can say is that they are so feral! I have never come across a bunch of supporters who think that every single umpiring decision goes against them! It was seriously embarrassing, they were going nuts over free kicks which were there to be paid! I admit some of the decisions today were terrible but there were plenty which were correct!! Anyway what are the plans for the ext 12 months? Neale has some big decisions to make. Do we have one more crack at it for next year or do we try and promote the young blokes. I think we go for 1 more year, but its a big call. Blokes like, Biz, Wardy, McDonald, Yze, Nath Brown, Holland, Neitz, White what do we do?

Thanks for contributing to it.

Why would you give somebody shit about their record when you've just lost to them. That's like being robbed at knifepoint by a junkie and as he runs away you go "HAH I LOST MY MONEY, BUT YOU'RE STILL POOR!"

Nice game - the reason we won was the 'meatloaf' performance of the 1st quarter. When we entered the 50, we made sure that we had to score. Something that had been missing from our *cough* gameplan *cough*.

Absolutely no respect from Collingwood, and it turned out to be their downfall. Rampant supporters just need to dry their eyes.

Pleased to see that we could have the legs to finish the game.

First quarter was terrific, we were first in and tore them to shreds. Could've kicked more accurately and build an even bigger lead but you can't be too fussy.

Second quarter, we had our chances but threw them away with poor skills, average decision making and a shocking kick for goal. Game should have been over half way through the second quarter - we were a 10 goal better side at that point in time but allowed them to stay alive.

Third quarter, they slowly came back and we again looked ordinary. Neitz went off, Pies got within a goal and it wasn't looking good at all.

Then in the last, Neitz came back on, we fought back, ran harder and deserved the victory. We kept the game open for them late in the game, which was disappointing because good sides bury opponents, but we did enough to win anyway. Robertson's goal after the siren was the icing on the cake.

Gotta say, it's good to see PJ playing well. I think it's best if (when not in the ruck or on the bench) plays leading up from CHF. He's got the big body and some good hands. Not the greatest set shot, so I say let him share Miller's old job with Bate.

And send Jamar the Sandringham train timetable because that's where he's spending the rest of the year. Looking like the guy in the Crime Prevention Matters ad can only get you so far.

I'd like him deeper, I reckon he's a ripping set shot from 50 out after a quick lead. Sure he missed two today but they were beautiful long kicks, as fluent as Neitz if not better.

The AFL members bar in the second half was a great larf. Ferals all round. Davey took a mark "Stupid black bastard" Kicks the goal "black ****" then a fight involving 3 pies fans who were mates over whether or not Clement was playing.

I think "cultured" is the best way to describe them. Seriously though, I kick myself for it, but every year I'm suprised at how "cultured" they are. It's truly amazing, one generalisation that rings true. At one stage I just sat there and looked around me, thinking "I'm in a mad house. These people are truly crazy"

Good game, I thought we had you at 3 quarter time. Have to admit that the Robbo push broke my heart, but we had plenty of chances after that.

Rocca was dissapointing in his lack of leadership, dutchy ripped his arm out of its socket in every contest, but instead of wearing it on the chin and giving a contest, Rocca lost the plot and gave away stupid free kicks.

Neitz gets that sort of treatment from the umpires week in week out, rocca and Barry Hall could learn a bit from Neiter and how he handles it.

The 3 deliberate rulings were all terrible, however both of the Mlebourne ones led directly to goals....

The Maclean decision was a shame, but you might want to check the rule book - it was 100% correct.

You blokes will ruin a few finals aspirations this year - well played. With River, Maloney and a few others to come back you'll be very dangerous.

Brock was good again today and I thought Sylvia did some special things. I think Brock is sure showing the media that Deledio din't deserve that rising star award, just like Heater vs Pearce.

see you in 8 weeks :thumbsu:

Just finished watching the match replay then. My favourite bit was easily Sylvia's shrug off of his opponent (even if it was a first gamer) which resulted in a goal. McLean definately was best on ground after Robbo.

davey_magik
14 Jun 2007, 18:45
With the McLean decision, I didn't believe it was the right one, as I thought the umpire paid deliberate but there is no way Brock would have known as he threw the ball into the chair as soon as he crossed the boundary, and the umpire certainly delayed the 50m penalty, as it looked like he paid it for nothing.
