I am so sick of supporters blaming the umpires for the loss.
I admit that i was getting extremely angry with them today for some of the stupid decisions made but they did not make Collingwood lose.
Lack of intensity in the first quarter and pathetic coaching is what lost it for us. (Y keep letting them huddle when clearly it was smashing us)

Can we please just look at the positives to take from this game and they are that :

1: Goldsack played easily his best game and looks the real deal.
2: Travis keeps on getting his hands on the thing and doing some real good stuff with it.

3: Holland seemed to be back to near his best.
4: Stanners really looks like he can make a name for himself in the 1's.
I know that most of you will say he got flogged (which he did) but he was playing on a guy who has a hell of a lot more experience than he has.

We nearly beat Melbourne with our whole backline injured. No Clement, Presti, R.Shaw, Harry O and also Keep in mind heath is not 100%.
I know that might sound like an excuse but its fact that those 4 players are all part of our best backline.

Do not forget that this year is a year to let the younger players play some good footy. If anyone really thinks we have a good chance at the flag this year then imagine what it will be like in a couple of years after stanners and the like have some experience behind them.

I'd like to see Stanners with an actual backline around him. Putting him on Robbo in his first game with no support is leaving him high and dry, much like the umpires left Anthony Rocca. Not arguing the decisions against him, but the ones that weren't paid against Holland were a disgrace.

Goldsack did look very good, and even more pleasing to see is that he is a fine kick of the football, hits targets consistently.

Travis needs to kick them from 15 metres out, in fact our whole team was woeful in front of goal today.

Overall, one that got away, but with everything that was against us it was a good effort to make it a contest.

When Melbourne supporters quit winging in my my ear about umpires costing them no less than 4 games. I'll stop winging about umpires today.

no definitly can't blame the umpires totally, melbourne did play well but the umpires definitly did not help our cause at times. But we were lucky we were actually so close, given our defence was so young with heath really being the only shining light.

I agree, we didn't play well enough to win but we showed a lot of fight and were able to grind away until the margin was down to 4 points. But what I can't abide by was that shit non decision where Robbo goaled, and at a crucial time. It was a clear push in the back last year and this year and the fact that 70,00 could see it and ONE person couldn't is shambolic.

Stefan Grund you need to reassess where your umpiring is going, as bad as Rocca was (it's hard to play the game with one arm) you were much much worse.

Mate, go and have a look at your supporters posting under 'Filthy.........' , and you'll see the evidence. It is an embarrasment for the rest of the (few) reasonable Collingwood supporters.

Demons supporter who was obviously drunk and mouthing off at a whole section of Pies supporters. She had to be escorted out of the area by 3 or 4 MCC guys.

People like to vent, just like 'unreasonable' opposition supporters come onto the Collingwood board to get attention, mission accomplished.

Absolutely 100% correct. We all like to vent. The way in which you go about it says so much about yourself.

It influenced the game, yes... and thats a very ****ing big yes.

But the end of the day we could've won it but didn't. Didn't chase, run or tackle as well as I've seen us in previous games.

Lesson learnt.

On a side note, the umpiring was a ****ing disgrace all-round.

The umpiring was disgraceful. We got the rough end of the stick big time. These comments piss Melbourne supporters off royally but so what, full credit to them they did beat us, they were better, we were worse. I don't know if we would've won if the umpiring was ok or not, but it wasn't so we'll never know, that doesn't mean this sort of crap should be accepted.

Do we have to wait until umpires wreck a grand final to sort this crap out?

From what i saw today, umpires missed some decisions that should have gone your way. But at the same time they also gifted you the game with 30m penalty and Shannon Grant.

So you win some you lose some.

Handy pickup... will be a good acquisition for the team.. just don't want him lining up for goal from dead in front in the goal square for the win...
