lol, A message to all pies fans out there just to take a deep breath, forget about today and focus on Sydney.

Look at the bright side - we are still 7-4

With 2 weeks off, it will only give more time for all our injured guys 2 come back into the fold.

I don't think we should be throwing in the towel yet. LoL

You know the script each year. Lose the Queens B-day and then thump Sydney in Sydney. :D

Yep agree toally but in the back of my mind i cant help think, surly it wont be something like 7 - 8 after 15 games will it? We play Hawks, swans, bommers and cats in the next 4 or 5 weeks. This season could turn very ugly very quickly. Please no no no

Good post, the voice of reason. 5 absolute top notch players out and everyone is cutting their wrists. Bucks, Clement, Presty, Shaw plus Harry O gone early, nyaaaa......what are you gunna do? They will be fine after the break. Remember 03? Played gold in the 2nd half of the year, until GF day anyway.:thumbsu:

Exactly. Today was disappointing but its not the end of the world.

We've got two weeks to get a lot of good players back and a fantastic run home with not leaving Melbourne after the Sydney game.

And even if worse does come to worse and we falter badly in the second half of the season, we'll still have a massive number of positives to take out of the season when we can have a really decent crack at the flag in 2008.

Today was a bad result but the rest of the year and the future are looking very, very positive. Chins up people.:D

Great, lets see exactly where we are, no bumbleflucking into the finals like last year. 4 good sides in 4 weeks, thats what it takes to win a GF! I don't think there are as many jellyfish in the team as in the past, and another virgin blooded today with players learning harsh lessons about life in the backline without Presti and Clement was going to happen sooner or later. So I say bring on the supposed gun teams and lets see what we have really got this year. Can't wait.:)

Not slashing my wrists, but Harry O, Bucks and Presti in the least are not going to be ready in 12 days. No way, no how.

R Shaw isn't a defender's ********, he's a good tagger through the middle though.

Fact is, this probably ain't going to be our year, but we're showing good signs for the future and put up a good fight with no backline to speak of.

Yeah probably a bit like last year come september, but I still reckon we will get to enjoy some great footy from this lot before the year is out. Frustratingly close today with a very inexperieced team. Can't believe Snowbunny trolls are on here gloating, desperate for a win I guess.

This is a really good thread.

I click on the Collingwood board link and I see the thread titles and think that its really sad. There's a topic blaming the umpires and another topic about Mick being past it because he didn't move Stanley quick enough.

These are both just cop outs and I'm ashamed to be a Collingwood supporter after a loss and its not because Rocca had 2 touches and Stanners got beaten by a harder, experienced body, but more about these threads.

Complaining about umpiring makes us look like sore losers and attacking Mick is stupid. I have to ask: Where were these people last week? What did they say about his coaching against Freo and his season long support of the young kids and the 7-3 win/loss ratio?

I think we gave it a red hot crack all day but it came down to who we had available on the park. We had 3 players who hadn't played a game last year and lost Harry O early. If we had one of Harry or Jimmy available we probably would have won. And back to the OP we're still in a great position. We're in the TOP 4 FFS.

Clement, Presti, Heath Shaw (playing inj), Rhyce Shaw and Obrien out of the game... while we play rookies in the backline - is going to have a detrimental impact on the scoreboard whether we like it or not. Therefore when you look at the scoreline - irrespective of who we played against - indicates we have a pretty decent team.

As mentioned - the break will be good for us.

The break will do us a lot of good. But realistically who will be back after 2 weeks.
Maybe only Clement and possibly lonie.Clement will only be 90%.
Forget presti, rhyce shaw, obrien, buckley. We will still have holes in our backline but with Clement and maybe lonie, bring in Cox and wakelin we may just get over the Swans, providing our forwards kick straight.
All teams face injuries,if we can win 3 out of the next four we are looking good for a top 4 spot and when all the injured players come back towards the tail end of the season ,anything can happen.
The next 4 weeks will define where we will end up at the end of the home and away games.
Also the advantage we do have is that Sydney will be our last trek interstate and i believe all the rest of the games will be played here on the G.So really we should make top 4 .No excuses.
15-16 wins should see us in 3rd or 4th possie.

Yeah noticed this after I posted. I assumed we'd be above the bummers because our percentage was higher than theirs before the game.
