I figure here is as good a place as any to tell this anecdote from today.

I went to the Queens Birthday game with some family. My whole extended family are Demons and my uncle was getting stuck into me about the Crows a bit. We were chatting a bit about our season so far and VB came up, as did the fact that I bring a VB banner to each game I attend. I said that mine was YOU GOT VAN BERLOWNED and then one of my sisters friends asked me about the "van Berlo banner with the VB logo."

Heads are starting to turn. ;)

I must say, I was offended. This bloke was a Melbourne fan so he obviously saw it at the game last week when I was sitting next to you.

I think most people just assume any amusing material produced by a Crows fan is by Dandy.

Banners yes, but DT is always good for a laugh too and was here first ;)
I must admit that Dandy is the more visual of the two and DT can be relied upon to use words a little too cleverly at times for most of this board :p

Yeah but for people to assume that, they'd also be assuming that I have even more surplus time on my hands and even less of a life than I actually do.
Internet cred is a double edged sword :(

Not only that im reasonably sure yours is the biggest of the lot :p

I have to say though, a lot of people have come up to me in the shed after wins etc. and asked for a photo of the banner. Hell, even van Berlo's dad took a photo.

how did you get it made?, i assume* the pic of VB is screen printed or something like that?

Ill assume you're asking me and not dandy since this is my thread dang it... :p

Theres a guy at the brickworks who paints designs onto clothes etc., i took him a print off of the logo, and he knocked it up for me, even improving it by adding the background, which i hadnt really thought about.

Yeah, do what he did. I made my design in photoshop, bought heaps of t-shirt transfers for cheap off a mate, blew up the image and printed it off across 30 or so of the transfers, then ironed them on in the correct order onto a sheet.
Took me friggin ages (was up until 2am the night before the Freo game, with work at 5.30am that morning), and if I hadn't been able to get the t-shirt transfers cheap it probably wouldn't have been that much cheaper than getting it airbrushed like ST.

Oh, and I was looking through my junk today and I found this which I initially intended to be a banner design. I suppose it's worth posting.

I guess anyone is free to use it if they like the design. I ripped the chess knight from a weird Knight Rider logo I found somewhere, and used a Knight Rider font.

EDIT: recoloured it (quick, crap job) because I didn't think the gold I had was gold enough (because it was peach).

OK thats it, I'm in love!!! Can I use this?? I am a bit of an artist and I've been looking for some inspiration for a banner design :)

I just have to work out how I'm going to fit the two greatest words in the English language on the same banner - Van Berlo :D

To contradict my last post, I have in fact had a lot of free time today (although I really should be studying right now :D). I wanted to have another crack at a medieval style banner, and Griffin has the most medieval name on our list, so here we go. Once again, it's a quickish job and nothing special, but I think it looks okay.

I remember someone was looking for inspiration for a Griffo banner. I'm not sure whether they've made theirs yet (haven't noticed one around the ground yet, but I'm short-sighted and in need of new glasses, so that doesn't mean much), but again they're welcome to use this as inspiration if they want.

That was me :) I made one, didn't get to use it in the Carlton game, because he got injured, but I used it a bit at the G. Don't get around to using it at home games because I sit under cover.

Mine looks much, much more amateurish than yours. Yours is awesome :thumbsu:
