Having posted here for some time, I know for a fact that Geelong supporters love to play the pessimist. I got shot down earlier in the year for even suggesting that Geelong would finish at the top of the ladder. People rubbished me for thinking that this year could be the one. Now, mid season, we are top of the table. Simple thread...

At the beginning of the year did you or did you not think Geelong had a chance of being top of the table after the break?

I was confident at the start of the year that we'd turn it around enough to make the finals and sneak into the top 4 with luck. I didn't think we'd play like we have in the last 6 weeks and reach the top of the ladder. However, there are still 11 rounds to go........

Being a long time Geelong supporter, the better we go the more nervous I get :o

Honestly, I had them penciled in for 2nd spot.
Hopefully, along with the eagles we can now try to get some space between us and the rest of the top 8...

I thought we'd be about 5th/6th
Originally thought we'd draw with the Doggies, lose to Hawthorn as usual, beat Roos, lose to the Crows and win the others - mostly wrong! Loving the season but nearly died from stress-related something on Sunday - once the expectations are raised! More optimistic this year than for a long time - I just keep Bomber out of mind and recall Chapman's harsh but wise words!

Yeah 5-6

Didn't think wins over West Coast, Adelaide and Port away were all going to happen.

Bring on the Collingwood game.

Thought we'd be 4-6 come seasons end, didn't really look at the fixtures to think about where we'd be at the mid-season break. I'd be disappointed now if we didn't finish top 4, probably top 2.

Same here.

Knew we could be in the top eight definitely.. But number one, mid-year? No way. (The view is real nice from up here isn't it peoples? :p)

Also good to see more Victorian clubs in general, in the top eight. :thumbsu:

Do you feel better about yourself nostradamus? Whats the point of posting a thread like this? No one with any real football logic or nous would have predicted Geelong to be sitting on top come the mid season break.

Sometimes, vindication in ones predictions is a good thing.

Nope, I'd lost most hope for Geelong for 07. I thought we would be 8-10 maybe even lower. Lucky things have turned around and they have won my heart back again. GO CATS!!! #1! Hopefully the 2nd half of the season can be as good (maybe even better) than the first half. I repeat... GO CATS!!!!! #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Sorry, I'm getting carried away now. ;)

my prediction was always top 6 by the end of the season, potentially top 4. But I never dared to think we could go top. I just hope we can hold down a top 2 possie until seasons end. That would give us home finals which would help us make the GF.

The good thing is we only need to win 4 more games to guarantee a finals berth as 12 wins looking the minimum this year.

Let us all remember that no one will ever remember who was on top of the ladder after Round 11 2007.

There's a long way to go.

I predicted them in one of the pre-season threads to finish second behind the Eagles. Sure it was a wish, but I also think that we do have a great all-round team, with only a couple needed to stand up.

We are seeing that across the board, with most players showing an improvement to last year. Also, we go very deep in the playing list. With Prismall and Selwood struggling to keep a consistent spot, even though they probably would at most other clubs.

i said top 3 at years end in the ladder predictor. i think i had us beating the Dogs and Roos but not WC and Adelaide so my ‘for and against’ after 11 rounds is what i predicted.

i thought i was being a bit optimistic at the time but what’a ya know.
