with the week off next week would anyone give them 2 weeks off so they are refreshed for the 2nd half of the year? also the twos have a bye this week so why not give a couple of blokes a go to have a look at them.
i would still be happy to be 7-5 at the break.

The weekend break basically means they have two weeks rest which is more than enough. 7-5 is good but how good does 8-4 sound. Both are some of the best form of their careers, would not think of resting them for a second if they are fit.

I agree with you Boris.
Because of the ladder being so tight at the moment I'd rather us be 8-4 so we can possibly be 2 games ahead of 7th

No way , you dont mess with winning form and change the structure. Why is there an obsession with resting players ? They will get enough time with the one week break to recharge themselves.
This week is extremly important. Win this week and we will be in a position where we can go 5-5 after the break and easily make the finals.

Yep agree 100%! James hardly trains during the week leading upto a game anyway. Keep a settled line up bar injuries. Another win this Sunday would give us a little breathing space between us and the rest of the pack

We cant afford to rest anyone, the games we have dropped was because we werent' switched on mentally, if we rest players it gives them the ok that they dont have to bring their A game. We need to try to cement our spot in the 8
we have a very tough run home so i wouldnt be taking any chances leading into a very winnable game like this sunday.
Hirdy has just stated that it has taken 6-7 rounds to get his fitness up and as a result he is now playing well. He wont want a rest (only 11 games plus finals left in his career !)

No!!
Worried about this game - Port are getting a pasting in the media - expect them to come out breathing fire!!!

Not a chance.
As others have said, the split round will give them more than enough time.
Hird's last year, might be selfish but we need to make the most of it

im sure if the coachign staff felt they needed a week off they would give it to them, fact is jimmy doesnt train during the week, he runs his own training program so he doesnt need a week off, dustin is a bit sore, if he doesnt pull up 90-100 percent by the end of the week i would give him the week off but if he does there is no poitn upsetting our structure..
as everyone has been saying this is a huge game..
if we win then theoretically we will only need to win 4 out of 10 after the break to make the finals... pretty easy task seeings we still have melbourne richmond carlton still to come..

Tell me about it.
I hate playing injured players when it's likely the injury will be aggravated but we're in no position to be resting fit players.

I wouldnt worry bout resting hird and flech id be looking at giving campo a long rest down at bendigo he has lost his touch and surely we have some good young players in better form we need 2 blood

Big statement since we beat richmond by 2 points, carlton beat us the first time and melbourne have now just started to get players back and will be a tough opponent in few weeks, whilst I said at the start of the season we will play finals (one of the few) we dont have many easy games as such the evenness of the competition and the way that some sides lift when they play us.

i would say this is a great time against port to bring in hislop and lolergen or what ever his name is.
i would say drop monfries because he has lost a little bit of form and maybe give station a bit of a rest. it might only be the only game we may have to try these guys out in the seniors.
No.
Our primary goal is to win as many games as we can, as quickly as we can. We have to give ourselves maximum opportunity to win games now because for all we know, it could become a lot harder later on in the year.
As long as Hirdy and Fletch are up to it, they will play.

If they are playing well, then don't rest them.
You don't flirt with your form.

Oh, and another reason not to rest them.
I want to see them play this week.
Could be my last chance to see Hirdy run around (eyes start to well up).

They both need to play with the split rd they will have 2 weeks rest anyway and this is the game that will make or break or season.
we cant go out and play without or best backman and our best player period.

We beat Richmond by 8.

Either way, it is still not a convincing win and we must take every game serious and put our best side on the field every week.

Hislop is injured and wont play.

History has shown in recent years that a top 4 finish is a must, now is the time to lock in a top 4 place, when this is done, and only then can we afford to rest top line players.

we have to just keep looking at the short term.... winning our matches when they come, never rest players, play every week like its a grand final, thats what we actually win us a grand final..

unless injured. it would be silly to rest them. if either had niggling injuries, that with the extra week would mean they would be back to 100% then i'd say yes rest them. but if they are fully fit which i know hirdy is, and i assume fletch is although he has had some niggles, it would be silly to rest anyone this week.

With this season being rather even in terms of games won, that will never happen.

I say keep Campo in the regain his touch. He missed a lot of footy early this year and through pre-season I think we should keep playing him and he will eventually get back to his best, being in and out would stifle it IMO.
I don't think Hird will let them rest him, he wouldn't want to miss 1 game in his final year.

Ridiculous suggestion. It will be the last time I see Hird play live in the flesh so I will be one angry person if that happened.

Never rest champions, they are needed to win, and besides Hirdy needs to win the Brownlow.
