Comments: Let me quote myself AGAIN from this guestbook: "I can guarantee that Lockwood will be playing in the forward lines for the Magpies within 3 months. We know Port too well... Thursday, February 21st 2002 - 11:46:28 PM" Those Port goons are so transparent.

Centrals comprehensively outclassed and outmuscled a shabby Port outfit. In some ways it was like the Port I remember from the late 70's and 80's: no skill but plenty of thuggery masquerading as 'tough play'. How many of our players were wearing bandages by halftime?!
The only downside to the game was how we blew a 65 point lead in the last 15 minutes of the game to only win by 37 points. With 15 minutes to go, Port was 3:7(25), 10 points short of their lowest EVER score against Centrals. So to see Port then kick the last 4 goals of the game was a bit disappointing for me. ----- Considering Port's plight, the number of Port supporters that turned up must have been a disappointment.
The Tim Ginever posters were plastered all around the ground and ofcourse they were made fun of to the extreme. What marketing guru decided the best method for securing Port's future is to get the begging bowl out? They were asking for it and they got it: - Monopoly $1 notes were offered to Port supporters to help their Club. Monopoly $1 notes were also seen stuck to the Tim Ginever posters and one guy was sporting Monopoly money ear rings. he he. - Folks wearing t-shirts with "$2" printed on the front and the $2 Cunningham's guy on the back. Hmm, what goose had that idea? :) - Centrals supporters walking around with bogus "SAVE THE MAGPIES" collection tins asking the crowd for donations! - Two cardboard banners were circulated around the crowd: the first one read "THE OLD CURRENCY" and had a picture of Tim Ginever with a $2 note. The second banner read "THE NEW CURRENCY" and had a picture of a Bulldogs premiership side with a $2 coin. The banners were later taken right into the Port cheersquad - needless to say, they were reportedly ripped up by a rather irate wildebeest in the port cheersquad. :) But plenty of photos and videos were taken before they met their end! -----
Once again, Port's cheersquad was swamped by Central's unofficial all-singing all-dancing cheer 'mob'. I must be getting soft or old because I actually felt sorry for them. The rendition of "You're SH#% and you know you are!" and the obligatory "Magpies! W@#K! W@#K! W@#K!" were quite funny, but I would like to see us spend more time chanting songs about how great Centrals is, rather than how weak the oppostion is. Apart from that, the chanting was quite good. I think one rendition of "Hey Jude" went for about 5 minutes non-stop in the 3rd qtr. I had to drop out of it because my voice gave out! -----
I know it's early days, but my long-range forecast is for a Centrals v Sturt Grand Final. Nobody else looks like they're near the mark.

We were getting thumped up forward and we had a perfectly capable forward playing at CHB. Why on earth would we not move him forward?? It certainly worked...Lockwood was one of our best.

In some ways it was like the Port I remember from the late 70's and 80's: no skill but plenty of thuggery masquerading as 'tough play'. How many of our players were wearing bandages by halftime?!

This is rather hypocritical considering Centrals players instigated the majority of the fights that occured (havent seen that many fights in a game for a few years...was refreshing!!). Chris Gowans clocked Lyle at the bottom of a pack deadset right in front of the umpire yet the blind c ockhead did nothing....everyone in the crowd on the 'outer' side saw it clear as day. I counted about 5 times that Centrals players instigated behind the play fights.

What marketing guru decided the best method for securing Port's future is to get the begging bowl out?

What does this person expect us to do?? Of course we are gonna get s hit for it....oh well....just means if Centrals are ever in the same predicament ill have a good old laugh. Not our fault that our members have something better to do than spend all their weeks wages on the clubrooms pokies.

The banners were later taken right into the Port cheersquad - needless to say, they were reportedly ripped up by a rather irate wildebeest in the port cheersquad. :)

After watching that feral mob called the 'Centrals Cheersquad' i find the above sentence rather hypocritical. If i was to be Easty for 5 minutes id say how they look like they have no jobs, no car, no house, no life. But im not easty and i dont stereotype.

I know it's early days, but my long-range forecast is for a Centrals v Sturt Grand Final. Nobody else looks like they're near the mark.

After the s hit i copped on friday night....i will laugh myself to death if Centrals dont win this years premiership.

You see they have won two flags in a row and now their arrogance is coming out already

Port supporters will get a chance to see what its been like for the rest of us when Port have been so succesful

D ick head supporters bagging everything and everyone from the other clubs because they think they are invincible.

Its boring for the rest of us but I guess Port people could use a taste of their own medicine.

Fake collection tins is a crime, I believe it's called theft. Being a Port supporter, I know what theft is. ;):p
Really though, good luck to them and I hope they enjoy their time in the sun, but this thing with the collection tins is not funny, it's just criminal. I hope one of them comes to me one day looking for money as a joke.

I think that is why I wanted Port to fall on their arses intially in the AFL. Give them a taste of what it is like and test the so called 'Port loyalty'. Pretty easy to be loyal when you're always up the top.

It was a sad day for sh*t stirrers when they finally got a premiership, I used to take great delight in being able to counter any thing they threw at us with "show us ya premierships" or "all you have in the trophy cabinet is dust". :(

Two years later they're almost up with the Bays! ;)

Oh how brilliant! How indescribably witty!!! Centrals "cheer mob" have ditties with the words "w**k" and "s**t" in them!!! So subliminally subtle in its conception, and so hilarious in its execution. R ... O ... F ... L ... M ... F ... A ... O ...

And how lucky are we mere mortals struggling in the morass of primieval slime that we have such an evolutionally advanced human being as Campbell to not only understand the deep seated nuances of this devastating repartee, but to be able to bring it to the attention of the mob in such a way as we might be fortunate enough to understand it!

And that he/she has such devoted acolytes in "toinzer" (come on admit it, that actually means something north of the Grand Junction Road doesn't it?) to alert the wider football community to the sheer genius which can be found on the CDFC guest book. I for one feel humbled to be in the presence of such greatness ... imagine the aura of a "super human" who finds the puny efforts of other mere mortals so galling that he/she has to quote himself/herself to make a point which may otherwise elude us all. Brilliant yet magnanimous. Greater qualities hath no other person ...

And what genius to recognise the skill-less thuggery of those Port sides of the late 70s and 80s which is so exemplified by Premierships in 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1988 and 1989. Not to mention unsuccessful Grand Final appearances in 1976 and 1984. Only the truly sage among us can recognise the triumph of thuggery over skill that occurred in each of those years.

I await with baited breath the next compelling contribution from Campbell ... the Magnificent ... (via of course his/her devoted acolytes) ...

I just read on their website that player presentations will be held at the Oxford Hotel after all games at Adelaide Oval

The Oxford is a yuppie paradise

you couldn't even get pints there till recently

They are going to love having all the Centrals ferals running amok there after the game.

I am sick and tired of you lot already sticking the arrogant tag on us. I guess it is alright if you are a Port supporter.

Port supporters are the worst of the lot! We have had to take so much bulls#@t from them for a long time and now that they can no longer say 'where are your premierships' they are all pissed off!

Why not for once can we revel in premiership glory like the rest of you, like Port supporters have for such a bloody long time. Goddamn it!!!

I think that it is because Centrals are finally getting a taste of victory and the others do not bloody like it.

I ask you Port supporters... is it because you hate other teams getting success? or just because its Centrals?!

Haven't the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club only won two flags as well? 1998 and 1999? Wasn't that the Port Adelaide Football Club that won the rest? They're not here today, they're in the AFL. ... ummmm, I could be way off the mark here, but I do not believe that Jars 458 is a Port supporter ... far from it in fact from what I can gather ...

Seems Centrals supporters infamy has spread well beyond the bounds of Port Adelaide. Ah well as the late great Frankie Howerd used to say ... "Infamy, infamy, everybody's got it in for me ..."

I didn't mean to say that Jars is a Port supporter. Sorry if that is what I said.

The thing that got me nuts was this--"I hope they fall flat on their arse." You know who you are. I thought that you were better than that.

My post was directed at Port supporters in general. I find it very hard to maintain a shred of respect for them when they bag Central the way they do, and I believe it is because we won the damn trophy and not them.

The Bulldogs have emerged as a threat now. They should get used to it!

I think your taking this thread a bit too seriously........

If you look back you will see the first 'fall on their arses' comment was directed at Port supporters as the loyalty of some (mainly the lovely bandwagon followers all of our clubs have) will be tested given Central appear as though they will be the dominant force in the SANFL for at least a couple more years. Our loyalty will be tested but I'm also confident success will come again - as the old saying goes 'Proud of the Past - Confident of the Future'

I'll continue to stir opposition supporters and expect to be stirred back.....it's all part of the fun of footy.........it's when the attacks get a bit personal or go right over the top that get me mad. In general the Centrals cheer squad and supporters antics are fun but like most they have a few radicals that step over the line at times. I agree with Santos about the fake collection tin's........I also remember the dead magpies being thrown round the carpark at Footy Park a number of years ago...........that's where things have gone way too far.....

As one of your supporters also posted on the guestbook dominance in footy comes in cycles so enjoy it while it lasts.......as a Port supporter we've been spolit over the last 25 years and I'm glad the dogs have finally had some success.....much better than some other clubs who only whinge about how hard it is for them.........it's what happens out on the ground that counts.......

Go Port

I find it very hard to have any respect for centrals supporters at all when they have a go at you in large groups and threaten you and crap. They are all so big and tough when they have 300 other drunken lunatics next to them, but i bet they wouldnt mouth off and threaten physical voilence on you if any of them were on their own.

Who really cares ? I mean who does ? Port Magpies have won 36 and Port Adelaide Football club have won 34..or ort Magpies have won 2..who cares??

I dont..I just know that the Port Adelaide Football club won 34 Premierships as the Magpies and the Port Magpies have won 2...But a club with the Magpies Icon has won 36 in the SANFL, be it PAFC or PAMFC.

and as for Centrals....good luck to them, the difference with them and the rest is, they have maintained a passionate supporter base at SANFL level whilst other clubs have gone the way of the Crows...good luck to Centrals...

Just to confirm that I am an Eagles supporter and that I was devasted and dismayed by our el lamo effort yesterday

McGregor and Crowell need to take a good hard look at themselves if they think they are anywhere near AFL standard.

I must say though, Centrals flooding in the first half was pretty pathetic for a side who is supposed to be so good. Terrible game of football to watch.

As far as being abused by supporters go - I have found that very few supporter groups have any sense of humour where there own players are concerned

If you yell out something tongue in cheek they get pissed off and want to fight you

Then there is the element that Macca is talking about who only go to the footy to threaten or get into some violence.

I shall be interested to see how I go tonight when I get into both Norwood and Port players. People may take pity on me when they see my Eagles cap........then again probably not.

I beleive thats why they are so good. Thats why they killed Port last week. They worked the flood to perfection. Getting 3-4 extra players back in defence and then running up the field in numbers when with the ball. If they continue with that style of play they will be very hard to beat this year.

I pretty much agree with that.
Last week there was 4 centrals supporters in front of us. If they had their way, Port would not of had 1 free kick the entire night. Even the most obvious free kicks to Port they would stand up and go "OH BULLCRAP, YOU ARE A CLOWN UMPIRE, YOU BLOODY JERK". Was very amusing when one player was deadset pushed in the back and they go apecrap. Then EVERY free kick they got brought about ironical cheers from them. Every free kick. Centrals ended up with about 8 free kicks more than Port. EVERY tackle and i mean EVERY single tackle the entire night brought about "BAAAAALLLLLLLL....OH RUBBISH". Was funny paying them out. The ironical thing was they didnt pay a holding the ball the whole night....until they left early then 30 seconds later Port got a holding the ball free :D

Then there is the element that Macca is talking about who only go to the footy to threaten or get into some violence.

They seem to be in abundance at Elizabeth. Or maybe it was just the section i was in last week.

This is how it should be........... A couple of years ago at Alberton, I went to see Sturt play there, from memory we went down, but not without a fight. The point is we were giving a bit of lip all day, we were given a bit of lip all day, some of it abusive, nothing personal though, and at the end we all shook hands, said "see ya in the finals" and went home in one piece

I don't usually join the drunk lot...and I definately do not condone the threats that these blokes make.

I think I know who this particular nut is that you say threaten you. Even some of the Centrals supporters think that this guy is a dork.

I always keep a safe distance away from the mob cause I know what they get up to. Of course I join in the normal chanting, but like dreamkillers said... all in good spirit. But the abnormal cheering I have no time for.

And maybe I am taking this thread to seriously, but that is because I am tired of having my part of SA, where I live and work, slagged off for such dumb reasons.

I will say now the trouble makers at our club are mainly the younger guys that go end to end. The older guys that have copped the blame for the last couple of years simply cannot be bothered going end to end as we are too fat and lazy.
As i said in my Anzac day post, stand up to these young idiots and they will back down.
You will find that Centrals fans do not go out looking to start trouble but if a fight is started by other fans they will not back down.
I can tell you now that if these young idiots start a fight i for one will personally sit back and enjoy them being taught a lesson.

Oh come off of it. You really sound like a victim. So you get a bit of abuse from a couple of supporters and the dummy is spat with full force. Or is it that you got beaten? What with your so called 25% of the South Australian supporter base you guys should have no problems mounting a formidable return force and shout down the Centrals supporters - NOT. A regular theme from contributors is to equate the lower economic and social status of the Northern suburbs with violence - how about the repetitive nature of violent outbursts at Norwood Oval. A bit of advice however - if you verbally abuse people who do feel low about themselves you will definitely get a response, possibly physical. It is not right and if your verbal attacks are kept to footy, 99% of DOGS fans will be on your side - including me. I hear full on abuse from opposition supporters referring to everything other than footy, and then they are suprised when some misguided fan goes at them. If your comments arent largely kept to the footy, Im sorry me old mucker but your bringing it on yourself. Why dont you just wrap a blanket around your legs and sit down with the Blue rinse mob at Alberton. That way you should feel nice and safe.

I will only ever get personal if they have a personal crack at me first. Everyone enjoys banter at the football....its great. Its just idiots like a few centrals supporters a few weekends ago that took it too far.

Why dont you just wrap a blanket around your legs and sit down with the Blue rinse mob at Alberton. That way you should feel nice and safe.

Are you saying its a bad thing that people feel physically threatened at the football?? People should not need to worry if they will end up in a fight at the football.

I do agree - Norwood supporters are a lot worse

In your earlier post you recognised that the original author did not submit the post that started this thread. As you are aware it was posted on the CDFC website, yet you still felt compelled to ridicule without going to the original source. Obviously you knew that you wouldnt get an argument. Ford Fairlane comes along and joins in the banter, and you name it the quote of the year. Both of you should have the guts to go to the original source and cop the responses on the chin, rather than lurking around here slapping yourselves on the back. Your mutual smugness is sickening. I offer you both a challenge to go the source of the post and see what responses you get in return. TRY IT!!! http://www.cdfc.com.au/

I know exactly what sort of response it will get which is why i never bothered to post it there. It would get a "Get the f off our board you port <insert swear word here>".

QUOTE]Your right BP my mates used to go end to end but now we`re all to fat & lazy, the C entrals end to enders actually come up & have a yarn after the game as we know most of the old timers. Its funny to see them blast the s**t out of the younger big mouth ones who are itching for it. Problem is, in a fight the`yd get horridly beaten, so the veteran Centrals supporters are doing a smart thing. Next home game at Prospect come up & introduce yourself at the southern bar at Prospect, we`ll have a beer.
Say g`day to grantley if he`s still around

Norwood supportes, Centrals supports, Port supporters, pffft!
None of them worry me, I tend to confuse most of them with wit which makes them very quiet.
Mind you I did think the way the Centrals supporters I was near at Prospect Oval when they beat us by 103pts were pathetic when they only started arking up at me after the siren!!!!!!
And as I walked out I saw/heard what I never thought Id ever see/hear: less intelligent things than what Port supporters do/say, very funny though, did make me and the missus laugh at how unfortunate these people were.

Scariest thing I ever saw from Centrals supporters was one year when I was on the grandstand side of Elizabeth Oval when after yelling out fairly tame things such as "Go Roosters", "holding the ball", etc an 85 yo bloke with his grand kids threatened to put his deck chair through my head! I was stunned and could only laugh at him as he moved away! Just makes you wonder what the grandkids are going to turn out like

In regard to meeting at the state game, count me in!

I'm there.

The best kind of flag I could think of at a state match would be to stick all of the team scarves together then sticking a big SANFL emblem on it.

Good idea...or not?
