View Full Version : Has Terry Got The Power To Stay At Punt Road???

As we all know, many of Richmonds coaches have come and gone in the past 80's without even leaving a footprint. Terry has been at punt road since '05 and hes implemented the youth policy. of course this has many pros and cons, a pro being he had to fix up the mighty stuff-up that is named DANNY FRAWLEY???? (Did anyone see him stuff up the EJ whitten game last night? lol sounded like the commentators were sticking little tongue in cheek in there....like "he's the only man responsible for the deficit" lol couldnt stop larfing) but a con is the fact that many of our players are unexperienced and this causes a lot of shite when some of our key players are injured (knobel, simmonds, brown, coughlan, you get the picture). but do you thionk wallace is just paving the way for another coach or is he here to stay??????

wallace will get his full 5 yrs. if after the 5th yr we are 0 and 10 with one draw he will be axed. coming from such a low base where 34 of the 39 odd players were crap common sense says it was always going to take longer than 5 yrs.
i dont have a problem with wallace as a coach but i do have a problem with the types of players he and miller have taken.
if wallace manages to build a decent list he will certainly get the best out of his players and he will win games thru shrewd coaching .

He better, you see he has the plans, all he needs is the players to execute his plans. I can safely say that he can outcoach any other AFL coach in a game, but he hasnt got the players, right now. ;)

man if you watch footy, like watch and see, its the same every time. He either has the other coaching panel hitting the board trying to work out his plan, or you see a quarter of footy where we are getting hit hard, with a plan and he works out a get out plan the next quarter. But we cant sustain it because we make errors. TW dont like errors. He might cop them because he has to now, but he aint someone that likes failure. i.e Losing by trying hard dont cut it with him. The bottom line with him is we must win. Right now, he must be trying hard to quell his frustration, purely for the the sake of "positive" thinking. But if say we were in a crunch finals game with a unit that was worthy of being there, there aint no one else i would want in our corner.
Forget the other bananas like Malthouse etc. they know JS, but promote to the media that they are these deep thinkers. Micky will forever be outcoached in the crunch games, because he aint got a clue on getting the job done.
The other charlatains, rely on having talent to burn, that hides their ineptitude in assesing a given problem on the fly and addressint it.
Read Worsforld, Mathews etc into that. The best 2 coaches in the league right now IMO are TW and Roos, when it comes to getting the chocolates in anyway you can, the rest you can piss them up against the wall, and that include sheeds. You see, he relies on Hird and Fletcher, take those 2 out of the fray and sheeds is a lost sheep, thats why Hird is still playing. ;)

Well, he actually didn't do TOO bad in those WC years in the 90's when it came to crunch games. Might be an age thing.

Terry has tested my patience with some bizarre press conferences and selections.
He needs to lose the spin and show us the leadership.

there is not a better match day coach going around the AFL

TW needs to now shut up and do what we are paying him for.
I just want to see and hear from him on Match Day.
We don't need anymore publicity - good, bad or indifferent.

i agree with this.

It just comes across as hypocritical and makes it hard for supporters to trust the club.

We had faith in the club back in 04 at the draft table, then today they come out and admit we are grossly under resourced in recruiting and are only now putting in the requirements to rectify this. We swallowed a load in blind faith. Our one hope was we were culling crap and replacing them with promising youth...in lieu of this well the question begs - are they promising or just young players destined for mediocrity? :o

Nathan Brown...

The way theyve treated supporters is nothing short of a disgrace. flipper, after googly, after armball, after doosra spin spin SPIN!

I know sport is business and PR is everything, but like ive said before, we have been a basket case for that long, that the supporters we have now are the hardcore diehard supporters, We will never abandon the club so RFC you do not have to waste time feeding us what you think we want to hear. Just STFU! put your heads down and work on becoming a better footy club.

On the other end of that the club has reconised that we are behind in player scouting and drafting development and come out and said so. In the past the club would try to hide the indifference rather than admit fault.

Sorry, but Terry being out there and prominant in the media has raised the profile of our club markedly and is a factor in more sponsors and members. For some reason when Terry says something it's written off as spin, yet whenever any other coach talks to the media it's fine. Double standards.

From an outsider looking in i think he has done ok, unfortunately in football these days the coach needs alot of behind the screen help from all the recruiting and assistant coaching departments, of which your clubs structures have been lacking but at least now they seem to be addressing that situation so it wont be long till you turn things around no matter who is coach
