From a lions perspective, Troy will be tagging i feel - my money is on bartel.

Not after Ablett was so magnificent last week. Nup, Ablett the usual tag-attractor will get Troy I think and hopefully rip him shreds on way to another 3 brownlow votes :)

If it's wet, you'll need 10 players tagging Jimmy

Surprise, surprise.

Wouldn't think they'd have his brother on him - taggers aren't typically reserved for kids playing their first season, especially with a bloke named Ablett running amok ;)

Brisbane are tanking though. Tagging a nine game player would be a pretty good way to increase your chance of losing.

In the wet Bartel is more dangerous IMO - I would hope that Adcock would get the run with job on Ablett, especially if he spends anytime up forward he'll be Adcock's man.

he should get a run and he deserves his spot in the 22, I was disappointed to see him dropped

be good to see him play on his brother, we'll see who the best Selwood is

Yeah Scott;) haha - i think it is pretty unique though that the 3 brothers playing at the moment play different types of positions within the midfield. Troy is at his best a tagger at the moment, Joel in more in and under and Adam gives plenty of run.

Im really happy he is back but i still cant believe we passed on Adam and allowed WC to take him.

I thought the elder 2 were both run with players. Didn't Adam tag Gaz when we played WC?

They're all good but it looks like we will have the best one out of the 3, or so I hope...

There is no discussion.

The Wood Store must stay in.

He had a great game today that's for sure. Tough job being a selector in this team.

Definately agree, but I think he should get the odd rest so he comes up all right for the finals if we make it

Pushing my NAB rising star bet on Scott Pendelbury every step of the way.

I hope he gets dropped, but not a chance after that game.

I have no idea, but by being 'rested' it supposedly means a few weeks in VFL, which is no rest. I would play him every week (unless he drops his form, which I can't foresee)

Great replacement for Rooke. How is Rooke gonna get back in? Tenace?

Yep, or Varcoe

Tenace injured his ankle in the last quarter so Rooke will probably come in for him. Enright had a shocker of a game, I would love to see Prismall come in for him though we know Bomber loves Enright. I thought Varcoe had a decent game and did some good things, will not be dropped.

finrod
17 Jun 2007, 17:19
I was a bit of a critic of Varcoe over the last few rounds, but I wouldn't drop him after today's effort - probably his best game yet. I think either Enright or Tenace should make way for Rooke.

I was going to start another thread on Varcoe, I can't believe as someone pointed out he had 17 possies. Thought he was very ineffective today, runs over the ball too much, put someone like Selwood in the forwardline and I'm sure they'd be more dangerous (at the moment)

Possies arent everything, he is in the side as much for his forward pressure than anything else. His pace hurries the opposition into quick kicks out of the forward line and turnovers. He needs to stay in for sure, plus why take away one of our best clearance players (Selwood) from the midfield?

Indeed, Selwood can't be dropped for the next game, maybe get rid of Tenace (who I thought was ok today) as Rooke comes in. I'm not sold on Enright though.

Don't forget we have a break next week, so Tenace has 2 weeks to overcome it.

bloodly selwood!! i sold him in dreamteam.. becuase i thought he had reached his max value, and wouldn;t be getting a game every week.. and had hadley on the ground instead.. and this is what he does.. goes and gets 120 points..ARGGHHH!!!

But as long as geelong are winning i dont really care about dreamteam.. GO CATS!

No doubt. Gun clearance player and so composed with the footy. Also GREAT awareness and good by hand and foot.

Tenace must by dropped for him when Rooke comes back in.

Yes, Carlton supporters would never admit it, but before he did his knee last year Selwood was on par with Gibbs. Injury slipped him down the pecking order, thank God!

Amen to that. Apparently Geelong were really keen on Boak but he got picked by Port before Geelong had the chance. Very early, but I'm very happy we got Selwood.

Why Port picked Boak before Selwood was beyond me, but I'm not complaining :p

Hard to believe that it's only his first season, so much class and composure. WHAT A GUN! Bryce who?;)

17 Jun 2007, 18:18
Perhaps give him a break here or there to follow our usual pattern with the kids coming through, but come the pointy end of the season or a crunch game he's definitely in the best 22.

Max in, Tenace out for mine. I thought Tenace was lucky to play this week anyway.

Thought he shared votes with Gazza today. Great game from our Joel - on radio he said it was his toughest game - Brereton replied - Leigh Matthews never coaches one that isn't!
Where was Tenace today? There was someone wearing No.10 who did b. all. Wet day - everyone slips - but you get up again - pretty weak on his part.

Same with Varcoe too, wasn't it?
We've got two class players that should have gone top5 in each draft, but have picked them up relatively cheaply. Good work, recruiters!:thumbsu:

Did anyone else notice his second effort in the pocket in the first quarter i think it was...(might have been second)

Copped a knee to his shin in a one on one contest near the boundary line... He stopped and i thought shit he has hurt himself.

Anyway the ball stayed in, it got fumbled back in board then punched up into the air... Then all of a sudden here comes Selwood three deep to make an impact on the contest.

I haven't seen many harder 18 year olds in their debut season.

YEP...saw that one.....i thought...bugger...he has broken his leg or something. Then popped up and gave a contest. Great Stuff :thumbsu:

A week off should allow the corky to clear up!

Selwood and Jimmy will give us the base geelog needs in its midfield, both tough in and under players good foot skills and leaders.

He is very good and will only get better. great pick for us
