Rather than having a number of different threads either criticising or praising certain players how about one thread dedicated to either giving a player a slap on the back if they have played well or a 'constructive' sledge for those who did not perform well (key word is constructive).

Nooooo!!!! Who says?

But I assume Pavlich will go for bumping the ump before he kicked that goal after the siren - how come it wasn't taken off him?

Slaps:

Johnson- self explanatory
Boyd- stood up without Cross in
Harris- great last quarter, odds on for AA Full Back now surely
Street- i though he did well. didnt win much out of the centre but his around the ground work was top notch by his standards. laid tackles...great to see.
Darcy- looks to have some mobility back. the break will do him wonders. best game since Crows 05'.
Harbrow- looks like we have found a gem. does all the little things that count. solid game tonight after a great game last week.
West- champion. Solid game again this week.
Aker- matchwinner, what we got him for and he delivered. 2 goals, 8 touches in the last for the win.Sledges:

Murphy's hammy. is he never not injured?

Slap to all the side.

We played Lynch, Habrow, Williams, Addison, and Higgins all have played between 1 and 15 games I think so fairly inexperienced .
We lost Murphy and Addison during the game so bench down to 20 at 3 qtr time.
We went Melbourne to Brisbane and back to Melbourne then to Darwin.

Sledge nly a liitle one but
Gia I think he was ordinary for a person in the leadership group.

Slaps.

Aker. His final quarters have been very good of late.

Boyd. No tackles tonight, but his second and third efforts were good. Was well beaten by Bell in the first half, but held his own in the second.

Cooney. Good first quarter, but faded in and out.

Darcy. Best game of the year. Gave away a couple of silly frees, but more than made up for it with his output both up forward and through the corridor.

Giansiracusa. Didn't get a whole lot of it, but his defensive pressure was first rate. Also looks to be getting some pace back.

Hahn. Looks like he's improved his goalkicking. Gave us some toughness in the forward fifty.

Harris. Steadied the ship in the third term with some very strong marks.

Johnno. Probably his best game of the year. Worked well around the ground and his mark in the first ten seconds of the final term was a gem.

Lynch. Liked his game a lot. He looks like he'll make a good linkman. Made a couple of errors, but it's to be expected from a first gamer.

West. Immense workrate in the final term, especially the first five minutes. In our best two or three.

Williams. Thought he was one of our best in defence tonight. Did very well on Tarrant in the second half. Ignore the 4 touches, as he was far more valuable than that.

Sledges.

Addison. He was alright tonight, but he's just too reckless. I hear he was concussed which may be why he wasn't seen much. A week or two in the twos might do him some good.

McMahon. His game was good, but some of the errors he made were very, very ordinary.

Umpiring. As a whole was very soft. 36 frees paid tonight.

Slaps. A bloody good game by both teams... a brilliant 7 goal last quarter by our boys!

Harbrow... a blood diamond.
Aker.... his experience and footy smarts are crucial. Love him.
Brian Harris.... solid first three quarters, outstanding in the last.
Darce... played very well.
Westy.... terrific as usual. Tough with great hands. A potent mix!
Mitchy... good pressure, vital goals.
Lynch... welcome to the side. A few mistakes, but some class as well.
Tommy Williams... some great 1%ers. Love blokes who can smother.
The streaker... great work mate.
Johnno.... a season defining game and as usual, our captain rises to the occassion. He is truly magnificent! :thumbsu:

Sledges.
Jordy... I'm a fan, but his last two kicks in the third ( Hedland for a point, Pav for a goal on the siren ) left a little to be desired.
Eagle... I think you may have some explaining to do. At least you took Tarrant's mind off the game!
Murph's hammies.

Harbrow gets it with ease and spends it with class. A Rolls Rookie, if he keeps that performance up Pendlebury's grip on the Rising Star award will be challenged.

SLAPS

* Johnno - Thank goodness he was out there tonight, don't know what we'd have done without him.
* Westy - Huge last quarter & stood up when it was needed.
* Mitch - 3 telling goals, love is physical presence up there.
* Gilbs - Continually makes the right decisions.
* Darce - Glad the coach had more faith in him than some. Terrific tonight & really shored up the centre clearences.
*Brian - That last quarter was just what the doctor ordered.
* Lynch & Harbrow - Add the X Factor, great the way they move, very deft. Great chasing & tackling too.
* The leaders - Stood up & led from the front in the last quarter.
* Kicking for goal - In the main it was a delight, unsure how many were set shots, but it was good to see.
* Clearences - Was looking at one stage that we were going to be pantsed, but to their credit they wrestled back the initiative & drove us forward.
* Supporters - To those that travelled, I'm glad you enjoyed a great trip!
SLEDGES

* Murph - Bloody hammy's!
* Coons - Seems to lack intensity on occassions, not too sure if I'm being a little harsh, but there were times when he seemed as tho when he was out of the contest, well, it was someone else's problem.
* Jordy - What were you thinking son? Would love to know what Rocket said at 3/4 time to him.
* Umpiring - Sooooo many soft frees (particularly the one to Hahn that he dobbed from 60).
* Peter Bell - Does anyone else tire of his goal celebrations?
* Jumpers - Just a minor one, but given it was our home game, why did we wear our clash jumper?

definately not a sledge to jordy mcmahon

ok he did 3 very ordinary kicks tonight.....BUT he also was in the top 5 for effective kicks, rebound 50 and his tackles were great(ie: matt carr)

he was a standout for me....as well as harris, johnson, and darcy

farren ray is terrible....his disposal is shocking...he did so many ordinary kicks and he would surely have topped the clanger count tonight

SLAP: Apart from the obvious players, Akemanis. Not a game where he naturally found the ball but stepped up in the last quarter. Terrific final term. He also made a lot of tackles tonight. Making a habit of big last quarters isn't he? Well done Jason.

Slaps
- Tommy Williams, Harbrow and Malcolm Lynch - in a real pressure game were all solid and in Harbrow's case occasionally brilliant. Good on the match committee for selecting them above some well tried hacks er I mean players
- Johnno, Westy and Boydy - just continued excellence. Thanks, fellas
- Darcy - great to see him in something like the form he was capable of. It's probably the first time he's truly deserved his place in the side for next week
- Streeta - improving every week.
- our clearance work after half time - sensational. Finally.
- the streaker - a return to traditional unsanitised football values of drunkenness and stupidity

Sledges - another double brain fade from Jordy. What's going on with him? He was otherwise pretty good but the two mistakes he made were shockers

combined slap/sledge - sledge to Akers for that shocking miss from straight in front, but a slap for not worrying too much about it and slotting a couple of great goals after that.

A male streaker is a sledge not a slap, or slap with a cricket bat ala Greg Chappell.

Slaps- Johnno brilliant game, had that steely look in his eyes when he lined up for his first goal
Harris - solid as a rock, he is so good when he just keeps his eyes on the ball
West -great goal could have kicked more
All the young guys well done
Darcy - getting back some form, really good when ball hit the ground when he was rucking
Murphy - all class, hope his hammy is not too bad
Eagle for the hit to Tazza-hope he doesn't miss too many, does he have any priors?

Sledges - Jordy's lack of concentration
Hargrave - gives away unnecessary free kicks
Umpires - seemed to miss blatant frees and pay the soft ones

Yes, he was found guilty of tripping (by foot) against Richmond earlier this year.

SLAPS :

JOHNNO - just a superstar
DARC - back in town son.
THE BROTHERS - Lynch & Harbrow...magical stuff and looked after eachother!
EAGLE - gave that girl Tarrant something to think about.
WESTY - what a professional, week in, week out.
OUR CLEARANCES - I think we broke even, which is just about a win in my book.
HARRIS - was again the last Q specialist repelling attack after attack.

SLEDGES :

Was it the humidity that affected the flight of the ball?? I'm sure a surgeon like McMahon can use this as an excuse.

MURPHY - those hammies

Slap - Apart from a great victory, the most satisfaction I got last night was watching Johnno just showing what a superstar that he is, and at the other end of the scale, watching two 1st year players have the balls to take on the opposition and break the game open - well done to the brothers.
