He was a terrible kick for goal at Hawthorn, Footscray and North Melbourne. How can someone be an expert in goal kicking when he could not kick?? Hes Richo's brother in law so the guy has to make money somehow.
Its been a laughable situation for someone who went to teams for more money or security and than the teams become better once he leaves. That tells you alot about the guy.

LOL!!
Come on what would you guys know, you have no idea what he actually DOES around the club!!
I can garantee you the club and players are happy with him, this thread just come out of nowhere with absolutely no substance whatsover, it's like a meaningless outburst of anger in some random direction at the first Richmond related person you could think of!
No offence at all but you couldn't be anymore ignorant because you literally don't know one single thing about Jade's performance now do you? ;)

Well I thought he was forward scout.

I think he's supposed to be a forward coach...I'm not sure what he does down at the club or if the club is happy with him, but the thing that gets me is: to be a successful club, surely we should have assistants who have achieved success and knows what it takes to get where you want to go. I'm not sure how much success Jade had and i remember at one point he was runnin around in the 2's because of lack of form or whatever.
I'm not having a go at him personally because i'm sure he's a top bloke, but in terms of success, how can pettifer, richo, schulz or whoever take him seriously? If I was one of our forwards, the first thing that would be in my mind would be 'yeah ok, u tell me to run here or lead here but how much success did you have with this?'

Schulz, Hughes & Petiffer, all normally reliable shots at goal before this season have fallen away considerably since Rawling's arrival at the club.
Make of that what you will but I wouldn't want him showing anyone how to kick.:thumbsd:

It's that kind of thinking that made Kane Johnson captain ;)

I would think the fact he is Richo's brother in law had a bit to do with him getting the position!
deliberate!!

Jade is teaching kicking to the squad because we couldn't get Richo's sister to take us for practice.
She thought we were hopeless and refused to take on the impossible job!!
-----> further to that;
I don't get it....watch an old game from the 70's, 80's and guys were kicking goals with the worst helicopters, flat punts and out of control bombs, yet the dudes of today can't kick straight with a drop punt, from a set shot, with no wind.......deliberate!!

The bloke was an average player don't get me wrong, BUT. If anyone has ever heard him speak about football , and I take it none of you have going by your comments. He has a great knowledge of the game and speaks very well. What he does at Richmond as an assistance coach I'm not sure but i think your all a bit off the mark if your blaming our losing sequence on a new forwards coach, and where is the evidence our goal kicking accuracy has dropped off?

Spot on there benny. We do know he is the forward coach, we do know that the forwards have no idea, we also know that he has given them no ideas, so we all have NFI on what he actually does. The one fact that no one can dipsute is we do know he collects a cheque, for having no idea. ;)

that's all it deserves.
Publicly debating and defending his role @ our club shows the same 3/5 mentality that he spreads with his sub par kicking advice.
There is a growing consensus that he suffers from an inability to actually justify his position by those who choose to,"Not" fly blindly.
I'd rather he got on the anti depressants and healed himself rather than becoming the obvious charity case he has,all at our EXPENSE.
:thumbsd:
lmao@ Someone saying he "speaks well":D
It was a strange appointment to begin with.
Kingy I get. Premiership experience, played with some of the games best players in one of the strongtest teams going around at the time. You'd bet he'd bring a winning culture or at least know what a winning culture is to Punt Rd.
Rawlings was an average player that played in crap teams.

I see your point. I believe we got David King for exactly this reason. However, people like Neil Craig haven't come from wildly successful footy club cultures and yet still get the job done better than most. If you only took premiership players as coaches, you could have some shockers. How do you think Greg Dear, Bill Duckworth or Damian Monkhorst would go?

I know what you mean but Paul Roos or Tommy Hafey weren't premiership players either. From what I can tell Hafey was less successful as a player than Rawlings.
I think it helps to have some around with success but it doesn't guarantee that they will be successful coaches. One of many boxes on the checklist maybe
Sorry duckboy , didn't see your similar post

I'm aware of that. There's a world of difference between Monkhorst spending an hour a week with our ruckmen and Jade Rawlings being a full time assistant coach. Sam Newman and Crackers Keenan still do the odd bit of "ruck coaching", I don't think anyone would call them part of the coaching staff though.

So ruck is not important?
Pattison is ready made and doesnt need development?

Where did I say that 1980? Do you not agree that specialist coaching positions are a world apart from full time assistants? Monkhorst works with 3-4 guys and maybe our midfield group occasionally. Are you happy that Monkhorst is our ruck coach, and that Steve Alessio was last our ruck coach? I'm not.
If you're asking the club is the ruck important, then that's a different question. With their recent appointments you'd have to say we're obviously working a on a tight budget. In fact I don't think Alessio was even paid. By the looks of Monkhorst we must be paying him with pies....
As for Pattison, of course he needs development. All big kids do. Hamish McIntosh this year has been a great example of why you need to be patient with big kids. Do you think he'd improve faster though if we had someone like Simon Madden or Scott Wynd or Peter Everitt working with him?
