...by the throat, and then let them back in.
When we get it going, we are looking like we did in the second half of last season... :thumbsu: yet they are only 5 points down. :thumbsd:
I'm not sure why, but we had this game and only needed to keep up the intensity, and the quick ball movement, and it would be almost over already now at half time. But instead, we go in pretty much on level peggings.
Oh - and KICK STRAIGHT... PLEASE!!!! :(

It's not Des. Really, whats the deal with singling out Des?
How about Dodd and few others crap roosts into the forward 50?

Frickin 46 point turnaround to lose this one...
One and a half quarters of "last year's footy", then 2 and a half quarters of the kind of footy that has seen us bottom dwellers for the other 12 years of our existence...
Such indecision, and too many handballs through the middle getting ourselves in deeper and deeper muck, then finally they kick, but it's just a long bomb into the 50, but it's over the top of the forwards heads, or to a 1 on 3 situation... :thumbsd:
Geez Brad Johnson is good...
Please someone explain, cos I really don't understand, how did this all turn to shit? :(
Quite simple really. Both teams chose to play attacking football and consequently both were allowed free shots at goal from around the 50 to 40 mark. It embed and flowed a bit, but eventually they started to take more of these long range shots more often and were more accurate with those shots. Instead we chose to try and pick out our key forwards from this distance instead, often doing this quite poorly by kicking to guys that were double teamed or just going to the opposition. Confidence and hope dropped as they took the lead, and they started to win it more out of the centre.
Both teams tried as hard as each other.
Honoury mention to Brad Johnson who played an outstanding game.

what happened to mcpharlin?
des headland was one of the best players in the league when he played for a team that wanted to win. what a lousy attitude we,ve had this year, theres about 4 players on our list that want us to win and one of them isnt playing till round 13

Don't use this loss as an excuse to attack Dessie, he was one of our best tonight believe it or not.

Yep 19 possie , 2 goals , 6 inside 50's (game high) , 3 tackles.
Far from our worst player

Guys being played when their form didn't warrant it.
Accepting mediocrity. The Chairman giving a bottom 8 finish "a big tick".
Players not being dragged/dropped for putting individual glory ahead of the team.
The coach picking fights with opposition coaches when our season is on the line.
Less than 100% commitment on game day being tolerated.

He was crap! You should be demanding him to pull his head in! How many targets did he hit? How many times did he fumble under no pressure at all? Have a bloody look at the result of his possesions, you headland fans just see that he got the ball and thats good enough for you! Well you just keep on accepting the mediocre crap that headland dishes out and see how far we get. I'm don't accept mediocre when it comes to my footy team, I want us to succeed! We will never be successful with headland in our club! he's a self centred joke! Trade the crab!!!

for gods sake stop using inside 50's as a defense for Des. I thought Des was OK in the first half and went missing in the second. His impact was very minimal, and when you play across the half forward flank you WILL get quite a few inside 50's. Its nonsense to keep using that stat to defend des because it means nothing. Did he hit people on the chest? how effective were those disposals into 50? We don't know. Useless stat.

I am also sick of the Headland supporters hiding behind useless statistics.
They pull out a stat to defend his game even when he has clearly been below par.
Headland was pathetic in the second half. With Carr out of action midway through the second qtr, senior players like Headland needed to step up. But he didnt, instead he did another dissapearing act.
But they will make an excuse for him no doubt: "Oh, no you cant look at the second half because he had a new pair of football boots on, so we can discount that performance as an outlier..."

What rubbish. Headland actually had more of it in the 2nd half than the first.

As soon as I heard about his verbal on Wally, I had a sensation of DejA Vu.
Sometimes I think he must be some sought of obsessive compulsive who gets in a position of normality then just self destructs.
Which makes him the perfect coach for our players.
As things turned out my premonition was correct.

Our accuracy at goal is killing us. If he had kicked straight in the second quater we would have had more momentum for the second half. Other problem is we are still bombing the ball into the fowardline instead of spotting up Pav and Taz :(

So we should ignore the stats in favour of your opinion. I don't reckon thats going to fly. I'd go with the stats.
You could pull apart every players performance on Saturday night and find flaws in their game. I thought Dessie's contribution was excellent relative to other senior players. Haze, Pav and Josh Carr all went missing at times.

Our disposal into the forward 50s was dogshit, and Headland was the chief offender. A game high amount of errors, coupled with equal highest inside 50s made Des a liability on the night.
You seem to happy to critise guys like Hase and J.Carr. But those guys were trying their guts out while Des was busy fumbling the ball and making disposal errors. J.Carr had the game high amount of clearances, Hase had highest 1st touch for the game. Dessy, for a guy who you guys consistantly defend by saying he delivers "lace out into the f50" sure makes alot of errors.
Having said that, Des was far from our worst. Connolly leaving Thorton on Johnson cost us the game, but guys like Crowley and Peake (and i'm one of his biggest supporters) were also shithouse.

Connolly leaving Thorton on Johnson cost us the game.
That is Cuddles' biggest problem - he has no plan b.
For example, the dockers started well, but then Rodney Eade was able to adjust his strategy to turn the tide. Cuddles was unable to respond to this.
That is why he is a below average tactician. He has no ability to adapt his tactics during the game.
