Paul Nixon refuses to believe his England career is over despite Matt Prior's arrival as wicket-keeper.
The 36-year-old, who played in the World Cup, hopes to be named in England's squad for the Twenty20 games and one-day series against West Indies.
The Leicestershire star will seek to impress coach Peter Moores when England Lions, formally the A team, face the tourists at Worcester on Thursday.
"I still feel I could do a job at the next World Cup in 2011," said Nixon.
Moores brought Prior, whom he worked with during his spell as Sussex coach, into the Test side for the first match of the series against the West Indies and he responded with a century on debut.

It has been an amazing journey for me and I've enjoyed every minute of it

And Prior's form has left Nixon wondering whether he will be named in the one-day squad on Friday.
"After the World Cup I thought I might not get another call-up to be honest, especially with the change of management, and Matt Prior has done so well since he came in," he said.
"But you keep driving and get stuck in. It is amazing what comes sometimes if you just get your head down and work hard.

West Indies have called up student Ruel Brathwaite for Thursday's match because of injuries.
The 21-year-old seamer, who was born in Barbados, took two wickets for the MCC against West Indies earlier this month.
Brathwaite has just completed the second year of a civil engineering degree course at Loughborough.
The tourists have also called up Jamaican paceman Andrew Richardson, who is currently playing league cricket. They are needed because Darren Sammy (thigh), Fidel Edwards (ankle) and Ravi Rampaul (groin) are all injured. Additionally, Test players Sylvester Joseph, Corey Collymore and Jerome Taylor are remaining with the squad temporarily because Austin Richards, Dwayne Smith and Lendl Simmons will not arrive in time for the game.
