I was wondering if anyone has any info on former Echuca player Ben Wilson. I am mates with him over here in Perth and he talks it up like he was a gun of the comp. Is this true?

Ben was what is best described a fringe player during a successful era for the Echuca Football Club. First played senior football in 2003, managing a game in the Preliminary Final side before a player returning form injury forced him out of the team for the Grand Final.

In and out of the side over the next couple of years, though in 2005 he started to command a more regular senior game. The highlight of his career at the Murray Bombers was no doubt his 7 goal effort against Kyabram in 2004. Many thought this would be the making of young Wilson, though this only lasted 7 days as in his next game Ben returned the stats of 0 kicks, 0 marks, 0 handballs. Some commented that this was the same number of Morrison Medal (the league B&F) votes Wilson has received during his career.

Another highlight was the day he played on Anthony Mellington.

Those who know Ben well do not doubt the fact he talks himself up, as we receive much the same info this way about his playing exploits in WA.
