I reckon the past personal problems of Lovett are finally gone and after 40 odd games,we can now start to see the makings of an elite footballer coming our way.
He looked sensational in that practice match I saw against WC before the season and I was looking forward to seeing him start really dominating his opponent in H&A matches once the real season started.
He looks set to have a big 2nd half of the season imo. Last year's dramas are behind him now and we will finally reap the rewards of drafting this talented young footballer.
Will he become a champion Bomber or just flash in and out most weeks with flashy runs and the odd goal?
What are other's opinions of him?

very glad to have him back in the team. People often forget about him with Davey getting all the attention as the speedster of the team.
Looked like he has put on a few kg's aswell. I dont think he needs to do this becuase hes the player you want given the ball outside of packs, he has blistering pace and delivers pretty well.

He's still a bit cameo at the moment but the signs are definately good for him to be a lot more than that.
I think he has the ability to average 20 touches and a goal per game over a season.
He is sometimes soft and unfortunately either pulls out of or doesn't commit to certain contests.
Having said that he has a lot of talent, but i am not convinced he will ever be a regular performer more a flashy type, but very handy none the less

He is very handy for foward pressure because of his great tackling ability and pace

i disagree.. i think he needs to bulk up a bit.... if we want him to be a midfeilder i would like him to do a sean burgoyne type role.

Soft as butter. Don't think he'd have a hardball get in any of his 40-odd games.

fair point, but in the end there are no excuses because fans/coaches/teamates dont give a toss how big or small your are.

Very similar player to Daniel Wells.
Except one is unbelievably overrated, the other equally underrated.
I suppose that's what happens when you are a low draft pick compared to a rookie list player.

I Can tell you that he been instructed to be aware of heavy contact as has Courtenay Dempsey. Cant say that I agree, but put simply they want Dempsey, Lovett to be the outside ball carriers with pace (inc Jetta) and to be wary of injury because of their natural frame and body mass. They want the JJ's, Hislops, Watsons to be the in and unders. Stanton and Winderlich are still able to carry the ball with pace but are still expected to make the physical impact...
He is essential to the side because he has the pace to break the lines. We need 4 - 5 players in the side with that pace. At the moment there is Lovett, Davey and Winderlich. Stants gut busting running helps but he doesn't have the out and out speed. We need to add a Jetta/Houli/Dempsey for speed.
Soft as butter. Don't think he'd have a hardball get in any of his 40-odd games.
Who do you barrack for you gutless wonder?

Essential to our side as a wingman come half forward.
If he can average 15-20 possies and a goal a game then he'll be a great player for us in the next few years.

Has to play in that position and maybe pinch hit in the middle like longy used to do. Needs to learn like longy that you only need 15-20 touches a week to be a star, its what you do with them that people will remember.

Exactly the type of player Lovett should aim to be like. I think he's got it in him, skill and pace to burn. Just has to add more toughness.
I reckon he will be one of our most important players come years end.

He has enough skill and pace. All he needs to do now is go to the gym every day for at least 2 hours.

And lose the pace?
He might need a bit of work but his strengths are suited to being a receiver.

Yeah, i understand what ur saying but he will still be fast. I would want him to be a player like Andrew McCloed. Fast and strong.

McLeod has core strength that has been built up over the years. It didn't come from a massive pre-season in the gym and came from conditioning over a number of years. It was very similar with Michael Long.
That will happen with Lovett but it will take some time. A massive pre-season in the gym might fast track is strenght, but it would have the initial effect of slowing him down.
An example of the bad effects of fast tracking strength development is Kepler Bradley. In 2005, Bradley played alright in a similar role to that of Paddy Ryder this year and looked pretty good, albeit not as good as Ryder. He had decent pace and was tall enough to play on some taller opponents. In the pre-season that led into the 2006 season, Bradley put a lot of work in at the gym and put on a lot of muscle. It went too far and Kepler lost a lot of speed and didn't have the fitness base to kepp going. Even now, we're still working on reversing those problems.
Have patience and give Lovett some time to bulk up and the same applies to Dempsey, Davey and Jetta.

when we finally get going with all players back
Lovett, Davey and Jetta will play a big role in our success
however they all have a long way to go before this happens he played well first half but totaly dropped off and turned his performance intoa poor one on friday night
a very handy player to have though
