Although I love Bowie and all he stands for, I can still listen to 70's music now, wheras I can't listen to 90's music before it happens! To live in a particular period, I would probably choose to be my Dad's age, so I could have been a teenager in the 60's.

9. Which artist/group from any period had the most influence on the music industry as a whole? Velvet Underground, apparently. Isn't the story that anyone who heard them play live went off and started a band?
10. Which artist/group will be most remembered in 50 years? The Beatles
11. If you had a choice between 70s music or 90s music, what would you choose? In my very strident opinion, far and away the two worst decades in popular music, mainly because the type of music that was prevalent for much of each decade is utter sh|t. I'd choose the 90s because there was some excellent stuff, but neither decade has a patch on the 80s.

The saying was that not many people bought "The Velvet Underground and Nico" (aka "The Banana Album"), but those who did all started bands.
And the most influential tour in music history was probably the first Sex Pistols tour of England....that inspired people to start bands like Joy Division/New Order, the Cure, Echo And The Bunnymen, the Pogues, Billy Bragg, Siouxsie and The Banshees, the Police, the Clash etc. etc.

Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tony Williams, Neil Peart, John Bonham.
I'm surprised so many people picked Ringo; he is about as mediocre a drummer as they come. Still, he is responsible for more people learning how to play drums than anyone in the history of music, so I respect that about him.

Absolutely, 100% without question the 1970s. No drum machines, no sampling, no rap, no boy bands, no "bootylicious" R&B, no music videos.

This is somewhat difficult. I have a very eclectic music taste and keep forgetting who's who.
1. favourite artist/group? All time, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Crowded House. At the moment I'd prefer to listen to Ani Difranco, Dar Williams, or Badly Drawn Boy.
2. favourite all-time song? November Rain by Guns N Roses. It was my favourite at the age of 10 (?), and it hasn't changed, although my music taste has changed thousands of times. Wanna Be Startin' somethin' by Michael Jackson. Deserves first song on every mix tape really.
3. favourite current song? I don't think I have one, although I'm not sure what current means. Current Favourite song however is Goodbye Sky Harbor by Jimmy Eat World, mostly because the lyrics are based on my favourite book ;) Also Fade Into You by Mazzy Star mostly because it was playing at an important time in my life.
4. best song of the decade (1992-2002)? Gotta agree with Hitman (?) Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley.---edited to say, it's Bragg, not Hitman.
5. who was the best lyricist of all-time? Bob Dylan I'd reckon.
6. who was the best singer of all-time? Michael Jackson ;) Actually, he's the best performer I've ever seen, but the best singer? Errmm *thinks* Really there are too many, I can't single out a best.
7. who was the best guitarist of all-time? Given my lack of knowledge about who plays in what band, because to be honest, I don't care (not saying I shouldn't, just that I don't), I can't think of one.
8. who was the best drummer of all-time? Ditto.
9. which artist/group from any period had the most influence on the music industry as a whole? Michael Jackson. :D No... can I be boring and say The Beatles?
10. which artist/group will be most remembered in 50 years? The Beatles for sure. They've survived too long, and they're still popular among young people, they'll at least be remembered in 50 years, no doubt.
11. if you had a choice between 70's music or 90's music, what would you choose??? I'd actually choose 60s. Don't like much 70s music, and the 90s... well quite frankly, most of the popular stuff is crap, but a lot of my favourite artists are from the 90s, so that's what I'll choose.
... I'll always find a long way to say everything, even if i'M trying to cut it short.
1. favourite artist/group? Joy Division.
2. favourite all-time song? Stand by Me/ God only knows.
3. favourite current song? They have current songs? Err.. That 'Go baby go' thing I hum along to.
4. best song of the decade (1992-2002)? Harvest Moon - Neil Young.
5. who was the best lyricist of all-time? Ian Curtis/Dylan/Roger Waters.
6. who was the best singer of all-time? Orbinson/Lennon/Sinatra.
7. who was the best guitarist of all-time? SRV
8. who was the best drummer of all-time? Rob Hirst
9. which artist/group from any period had the most influence on the music industry as a whole? Black rythm'n'blues guys from the twentys that everyone has forgotten.
10. which artist/group will be most remembered in 50 years? Let you know in 2052! ;)
11. if you had a choice between 70's music or 90's music, what would you choose? Seventies by the length of the proverbial.
