in my eyes i say that shiv chanderpaul would have to be the best batsman goin around.... he is unstoppable in all forms of the game...
in the recent test series... like all his scores were above 50 and now with a massive match winning tonne in the ODI the other night....
he has really steped up since lara has gone....
i say he is the best batsman going around and should be recognized

Actually you said he was the best - very good player - but the best - I think not.
The way he played Monty on the last day in the last Test with the ball turning was pretty special, it was only the 4th time he's been clean bowled by a spinner in his career & one of those was a Warne special.
He's good but not that good.
He's been very good in this series but Ponting and KP are still superior. Yousuf is another one who would challenge the assertion that he's the best going around.

Your an idiot for saying he is the best batsman in the world - i could think of around 10 batsmen who would be rated above him. He is a great batsmen, WI's best, but plenty better.

Has the best concentration of any batsman I have ever seen, as proven by the figures about longest time at the crease without getting out.
He has gone over 1000 minutes on three separate occasions, no other batsman has done it more than once, a testament to his ability and value he puts on his wicket.
In the top 5 in the world for sure.
I like watching Chanderpaul when he is focused.
He can build and control an innings superbly and pick the balls to play his shots at very well.
There have times in his career though when he has lost focus and been a disaster.
He also had a reputation for missing games with soft injuries, earning the wrath of Holding for one.
He's probably top three or four - Ponting and Yousuf easily the top two and well ahead of the pack.

haha it would take about 10 australian batsman to retire for chanderpaul to be the best batsman. hes prob best batsman today because australia arnt playing atm! no other reason
