Hello, all!
As I teased last night, there will be a viewing party in the Ballarat area for anyone who's interested in attending during the Brisbane Lions-Geelong game on Saturday evening. One plays three at the Gabba, and there couldn't be a better time for a get-together for the Cats fans, especially.
Our party will take place at The City Oval Hotel & Pub, located alongside Lake Wendouree. (In the past, we had thought The Views would be a good place to have such a party, but I have been informed that it doesn't have the Fox Footy Channel; meanwhile, the City Oval pub does, and that has us covered whether the game on Saturday is on Fox Footy or Ten.)
If you are interested in attending and joining my wife Jennifer (alias catgirl 2002) to watch the game with us, please RSVP here.
We plan on assembling in one end of the pub around 6:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start.
Looking forward to seeing a lot of people there.
Cheers,
William

Bump, for the purpose of an update...
Seeing that Fox Footy will be airing the game live, at 7 p.m., officially, Jennifer and I won't be arriving at the City Oval pub until just before kickoff, it looks like...
As some of you know, I've started covering one of the regional footy leagues here for the Ballarat Courier, and I have an assignment in Beaufort this Saturday, and that's a 45-minute drive back to Ballarat from there. So after I file my copy, looks like we'll be there just in the nick of time...
Someone save us a seat... party's on. :)
Cheers,
William

I'm there. Went and saw Plugger after work tonight, she's a goer. I'll be the bloke smoking rollies.
Cheers.

*bump*
Headcount up to six, give or take.
I'll be there in my replica Cats jumper. Jennifer is whinging that she has nothing to wear. :(
Cheers,
William

Also, I should add that since the game is on Fox Footy, kickoff is definitely slated for 7 p.m. We should have someone there to reserve us a table or a section around 6:45 or so, just to be on the safe side.
Cheers,
William

William - I normally just sit round the bar at the end away from the pool room and watch where its a bit hard to 'save' seats, unless theres a few of you there. East POint footy club have the bye and their casino trip on tomorrow, so there won't be a lot of them there, shouldn't be as busy as it usually is on a Saturday night. I'm going for a feed first, I can book a table for half a dozen near the telly in the lounge if you like, not a prob. BTW, where did we get 6 from?
Cheers

Sounds like a plan. If you can do that, that would be wonderful.
I got "six" from you, Plugger, me, my wife Jennifer, and a couple of others who PM'd me who said that they might make it, but didn't say for certain. Anyhoo, we'll see about them...
In any event, we look forward to seeing everyone who wants to come out and see the game with us.
Cheers,
William

Choose wisely William. If you approach the wrong bloke at the bar and ask "Are you NakedDeadGuy?" you might wake up in hospital.

No different than today, when I spent the morning in a dentist's chair.
On that note, I'll have to watch the solid food that I eat Saturday night. I had a tooth pulled this morning, and one side of my mouth is still rather tender. But a liquid diet has been encouraged... just wonder if this is what the dentist really had in mind. ;)
But no worries, Harry. Sounds like the NakedDeadGuy has left us with a good description with his location in the bar. This is, after all, sleepy ol' Ballarat. :)
Cheers,
William
I'd hoped to get out to Ballarat to meet some of you people, and be the token Lions person to crash the lil Cats fest :p hehehehe but sadly I am babysitting tonight. Have a good time!!!!
Oh and William, I cringed when I read about your dental woes, had a fractured tooth pulled recently it was very nasty. :( Anyways hope it's healing well and have a great time tonight. :)

No worries, Lioness... we hope to see you next time. You never need an excuse nor an alibi to join any of our parties. :)
Oh, and my mouth is healing quite nicely, thanks for your concern. I was able to enjoy a large plate of the deluxe fried rice at the pub along with a fair amount of beer. Those were probably the only things on the menu I could have had, and all of it was quite tasty.
Sure, our side may have lost, but a good time was had by all. Details forthcoming soon on the next get-together.
Cheers,
William
