I normally don't plug records (yeah sure) but if you are any way interested in Australian independent/punk rock then Do the Pop released on Shock records is an essential purchase. Basically tracks the evolution of the Australian Garage Rock Sound from the 70s punk era (The Saints, Radio Birdman, the Victims) through to the Sydney sound of the mid 80s (from the Hard-Ons through to the Hoodoo Gurus through to the Stems). Awesome liner notes and the best tracks from the Celibate Rifles, the Sunnyboys, the Eastern Dark and the Scientists amongst others. It's great for Hoodoo Gurus fans as not only are the early Gurus tracks included but the bands they were in beforehand (the Fun Things, the Hitmen, the Victims) are featured as well. Probably the best document available of early Australian punk I've seen. I picked it up for $30 and it has 50 tracks so it is a bargain on top of it all.
