Was listening to Hungry for Sport this morning on SEN and Greg Denham said that there are something like 15 players at Geelong that are out of contract at seasons end, and Geelong are not going to be talking player contracts untill the end of the season.
Does anyone know who the players out of contract are?

There's another thread on this somewhere. Use the search function.

What i was also going to ask was, is this a wise idea, not to sign anyone untill the end of the season, is it going to leave us too short of a window to try and re-sign everybody?

I dont think there would be anything unusual with a club having 15 players coming out of contract there are 42 (??) on a list at any one time and most are signed to 2-3 year contracts so 12-15 / year would be about right.
Nothing wrong with holding off till the end of season and I am sure all the players have been spoken to, as well as their managers, and had the club explain their reasoning behind it.

No biggie, nothing to to see here.
Sign says "Check this space in 14 weeks".
It's good to see a club actually support the players accoc. and wait until seasons end. Shows the club has confidence in the playing group.
Can't say the same for Carlton, Freo, StKilda or West Coast though.

I am thinking King might be a bit in a worry when it comes to his contract. Milburn and Johnson will be fine however. Not sure about Stokes.

They'll keep King. He still has something to offer, whether it's as a genuine player or as insurance for Ottens and Blake playing in the 2's.
Milburn, SJ & Stokes or all certain to get new contracts...

May he never return to senior footy.

Thats a bit harsh. King has been a loyal servant of GFC for a long long time now and when we were struggling with ruckmen he did a damn fine job. Just constant injuries and bad form weighed him down.
One less uncontracted player - Mooney has re-signed for 3 years :thumbsu:

Now time to sign Dog.
Heard the Dog last week on 927 and he said that they hadn't spoken to him yet and he sounded very eager to stay on.:thumbsu:
