My greatest ever game would have to be Essendon V Kangaroos 2001. When we came back from 69 points down. Unbelieveable

One of my favourites was the 96 centenary match against Geelong. Where Bewick (one of my favourites) came back from a knee reco and kicked 9. Hird also carved up and you see a very young Scott Lucas aswell. Great match.

'95 Anzac Day and '00 stand out. '95 more for the event than the footy, and '00 because it's the best team performance I've ever seen.

Essendon VS Geelong 1993, Salmon kicked 10, Ablett 14, end to end goals, remember watching it as a kid and being in awe
I have a couple of games that stick in the memory.
1983 elimination final when we beat Carlton. For the first time since in the 10 years that i had been going to the footy and following the Bombers we won a final .
The 83 prelim final beating North by 80 odd points.
The 84 prelim final smashing the Pies by 133 points.
But the Best for me was the 84 Grand Final . After all the early years of watching us play with no real results and the disaster of the 83 GF the 84 win was very sweet.
2000 was good as well given the 1999 prelim choke.

I second that game.
Best game that I remember being at.
I won't dare watch a replay of it as I don't want to ruin the way I remember the game.
I don't remember the year but i was at a game at the MCG Essendon vs Richmond.
The media reported that the lead changed 25 times during the game, yes 25 times, Van Der Haar kicked a torp goal from the centre square and Phil Carmen kicked the winning goal.I think we won by 8 points.
There have been games that mean more, like premierships etc, but that was the best game as it was a full on even contests from the very first bounce right to the final siren

93' Prelim 42 points down and the young team fought back. When Watson jumped over that bloke in the goal sqaure to give us the lead, it was sensational.

Essendon VS North 1999,carey kicked 10 and lloyd 8.best first quarter of footy ive seen had everything.
I missed this game, got knocked out playing footy, while I was heavily concussed I aparantely kept asking "did Essendon win?" like every 15 seconds.
That game was to decide who would be premiership favourites:(

First game i thought of when i saw the thread. Outstanding quality, watching Barry Young trying to break the record for the most 50 metre penatlies in one quarter. I really need to find a copy of this.

Ill say the James Hird game in 2004 being the best last quarter of any game ive been to.
Overall, I would give my nod to the 2001 game against North. Simply Unbelievable
Essendon VS Geelong 1993, Salmon kicked 10, Ablett 14, end to end goals, remember watching it as a kid and being in awe
I was there and it was a sensational game (Salmon went off with a hammy in the last quarter and Steve Alessio replaced him and kicked 3)
St Kilda v. Collingwood in the late 70s was a magic match ...George Young 9 goals and Phil Carman 11 (I think 6 in the last quarter). As an unbiased observer it was just sensational

Ess v WCE @ Windy Hill in 1991.
And we lost.
Bravest effort I've ever seen from an Essendon team that had 15 fit men at the end.
Standing ovation from the faithful after the game.
Still sends shivers down my spine.
99 Prelim for me.

I also was at that game.
Matera destroyed us but we came back bravely.
Greg Anderson kicked a right foot goal from the wrong side boundary line late in the game.
Was a fantastic effort by the TEAM.

Im sure the 2000 prelim was great but the game was won before the first bounce. The 99' prelim had everything. Essendon behind scoring fest, mercuri last minute easy miss, essendon getting way on top in third term and looking home, but then came the comeback in the last term with the kouta man. Essendon were odds on to win flag and everyone picked them. The blues got hammered in the first game of the finals and with the new finals system would have been eliminated, but back then we got a second chance.
I can understand why essendon fans hate this game, but if you reverse the everything and put yourself in a carlton fan's shoes you would agree that there is no better footy fairytale.

Would you rather a `99 Prelim or a `93 Flag ? Just as we still owe collingwood, carlton still owe Essendon

Greatest ever game ? Too many to mention, I`ve been spoilt. Too big a catalogue. Could not single one out although the `84 G.F and the `83 Elimination games would be close. (I`ts like selecting your favourite parent, child, niece, nephew etc etc)

Maybe you could post that game on your own board.
We don't need any reminding about it here.
My personal memory of that game.
After getting dumped by my g/f of 3 years, I moved out of our shared place together that morning.
Then settled down at my new digs to watch one of the most heartbreaking losses I've ever seen.
Terrific day, Prelim Final Day in 99....

2000 Qualifying Final VS Kangaros! The performance that day was a absolutely brutal, mean, awesome display of Football. To kick 32 goals in a final against the reigning premiers was unbelievable! Ive never seen a Essendon team so focused in completely killing another side.
They are all great games - not sure if any of you remember the last round in 1997 - Harvey's last game - the day that Princess Diana died - that was an awesome game - where the baby bombers mark 3, 4 or 5 finished off the season by beating the eventual premiers after having the wrost season under Sheedy's reign & I think we where 5 or 6 goals down early - can't forget 2 brilliant soccer goal by Che Cockatoo Collins & Gary Moorcroft that day - how about the 1992 anzac day come back against Melbourne - 47 points down with 20 minutes to go inthe last quarter enter Paul Salmon - I think he kicked 3 or 4 goals in the last quarter, Gavin Wanganeen kicked the goal to put us a point in front with a minute to go & Derek Kickett saved the day with a mark in the goal square he actualyy bumbed into the post but still took took the mark & the siren went about 5 seconds later - it was an amazing feeling after that match that I have only had at the 93 prelim, 2001 comback against the Kangas, the game Steve Alessio kicked the winning goal just before or on the siren against the Swans in 2001 & a few games this year

2000 QF Essendon v North Melbourne
Personally, I don't much care for close games, I get far too stressed out to enjoy them. I'd much rather watch games where we are totally dominant, destroying the opposition in every way.
