Geelong has recalled Josh Hunt to face Collingwood on Saturday. Hunt has played six games this season and last appeared against the Power in round nine.
The Cats will take on Collingwood on the match of the round with three players reaching significant milestones. Cameron Ling will earn life membership when he runs out for the 150th time. Ling debuted against Port Adelaide in 2000.
Jimmy Bartel will bring up his 100th game. Bartel debuted against Essendon in the opening game of the 2002 season. Interestingly Ling reached his 100th game on the same day as Bartel played his 50th match. Brad Ottens will line up for the 50th time in Geelong colours since his move from Richmond.
Kane Tenace makes way for Hunt.

Good to see Josh back.
Think Tenace is a little unlucky, he hasn't done a whole lot wrong apart from some clangers here and there.
Seems more like a match up issue, with the Pies having plenty of those small & medium sized forwards in L Davis, Didak, Thomas and others...

Looks from that that they're not concerned about Jnr not coming up. If he was in doubt I think they'd do something other than putting Byrnes in the emergencies.

Wouldn't be supprised if one of varcoe or ablett doesn't play... its the flu you can't shake it in a couple of days.

Is it a head cold or the flu?
Many people say 'flu' when they actually are referring to a head cold.

Apparently Gaz, Jimmy and Trav got told to take the week off.
Can't really confirm that but it would make sense...

Good luck to Josh Hunt who, IMO, is playing for his career at the club between now and September.

Yeah I wish him luck too. Apparently he's been using his bulk in contests and getting a tad angry on occasion. This is what we want!
Could be right about his career at the club, there is talk that he isn't happy with a few things but hopefully he puts that behind him and performs well. He had 2 very good games before Harley came back don't forget.
Tenace not even named as an emergency?

Interesting...slight concussion?...injured?..be interesting to see if he is named in the VFL.
IMO the selectors are concerned about the smaller Pie forwards (Didak,Davis) so have selected a genuine backman to mind them as opposed to a running half back. Its logical enough.
But you get your wish to see the different set up. Lets see how it goes particularly on the bigger ground...will be very interesting given our discussion this week.

Good thing seeing Josh Hunt, a bit of grunt and aggression. I like the lineup but would like to have NAblett in the mix.

i'm surpirsed DJ didnt come in instead.
the small forwards from the pies is a real worry, didak in the past few years, leon davis last year and now add to this dale thomas.
we really need a defensive stopper to go on one of them and i just dont think hunt's got the defensive side to his game to go with one of them...

Surely it's not too bad. I'm not at the absolute peak fitness needed for AFL level, but I've never been sick for longer than a couple of days with the "flu" in my life.

Happy with Hunt for Tenace personally. If Collingwood flood (which they have hinted at on an article on their home page) then Hunts long accurate kicking will come in handy.
He is also more able to nullify a forward than Tenace.

Agreed. I don't want the another Welsh situation, how a never-will-be like Welsh was taking us to the cleaners last week I'll never know.

For the most part you have the common flu for a couple of days, if that. As long as they get plenty of rest they will be fine, its just the media exaggerting things as usual. Oh no, Ablett coughed, he might be out for this weekend!!! :P
Hunt will play awesome, I can almost guarantee it. We have a side now where you have to fight to stay in, and Hunt knows. He knows if he can't play well theres a couple of other players who will be willing to take his spot. Be ready for him to play his heart out to ensure a continued spot in the team.
Congrats on the milestone boys... hopefully your around to make it to 300 :)

Great to see Josh Hunt in for Tenace. Thank god Steven King's not in...
I hope Gazza & Varcoe play this week ..I remember a couple of years ago when the flu went right thru the team. Bomber Thompson made them disinfect everything lockers,etc..
Perhaps the boys aren't to bad, Bomber just wants to make sure nobody else gets the flu so he made them stay away this week.

Pretty much expected that change - hopefully he can put in like he did versus Port and really make the Pies forwards earn their kicks. Tenace has had the chances many of us asked for and he hasn't been up to it thus far.

There is a bit of a difference between feeling well enough to get back to work and being well enough to run 10-15km on a wet MCG with Tarkyn Lockyer trying to get into your pants at every opportunity.
I reckon Gaz will play, Trav will miss and (hopefully) DJ will come into the side.

He is, but at the same time, he's always been a defender. Tenace was a midfielder they're trying to mould into a defender.
But you're right though, from a purely nullifying point of view, I'd have Hunt down there ahead of Tenace every time.

Varcoe is still a developing player and will not perform at a high level consistently yet. He does bring a lot to the team though and I think we should persist with him.

To me Varcoe has exceeded expectations in some ways this year. For him to be able to have the impact he's had in some games has been terrific.
That said though, he has got to start getting more possessions. His chasing is great, but he needs to get his hands on the ball and use his skills.

I agree, I think Trav is great but last week he had a pretty poor game overall and I thought this week he might get a rest. He is going to be a pretty handy forward/midfielder eventually but he isn't quite there yet. But he has been terrific this year and has played his role in the team beyond expectations IMO

Gazza moving well - but if it has been flu it will be fatigue. On St Mary's oval you are closer to them - Mackie looked much stockier than early in the year - in pre-season - Beaumonts' pies? Hunt slotting in comfortably - looks keen - hope he justifies inclusion. Charlie G looked fit too but he's not included!

We should have kept that under wraps - played with the pies mentality a bit, affect the markets, and dropped a lazy couple of gorillas on the cats at the line.........
Damn it.
