Spotswood RSL is the venue for the Selectors Table, I quite miss the Whitten Oval atmosphere for Selector’s Nights looking forward to it returning back there once the redevelopment is finished.

Players in Attendance tonight – Brad Johnson, Andrejs Everitt & Matthew Boyd

Board Member Present – Henry Jolson QC

MC – Kevin Hillier

Review of Night, more of a banter stirring between the players – quite a few laughs had by all.

Some things said during the show…

Brad Johnson

• Talked about Eagleton and how important he is to the team and how we need his hard running injected back in the team.

• Was asked by Hillier about the speech he gave Andrejs Everitt for his debut game and laughingly Johnno mentioned that he didn’t swear.

• Mentioned Grant’s outstanding 3rd quarter against Pt Adelaide and said he didn’t know he could run like that.

• Was asked about training sessions at TD and Johnno mentioned that it is not allowed last time he could remember a training session at TD was in the pre-season and they had to wear runners. Club would like to have a few training sessions at TD.

• After his footy career is over he would like to be involved with Sports Management and work with younger players.

• Mentioned that Crossy has slotted a R 18 return and is working his backside off trying to bolster things along. Crossy has also taken Griffen under his wing and pushing him along.

• Hillier was talking to Johnno about leading the Coleman Medal race and Matthew Boyd looks at them and says “That’s because he doesn’t handpass” everyone roared with laughter, especially Johnno.

Andrejs Everitt

• Was asked by Hillier about his debut game and whether he was nervous, Andrejs mentioned he wasn’t nervous at all but was looking forward to it.

• Nicknames he is called – Rowdy & Skinny

• Was really laid backed, just took it all in and listened.

Matthew Boyd

• Boydy mentioned with Cross & West it is really a new phase in his development and it will be a challenge, mentioned Cooney, Gia & Aker having stepped up in recent weeks.

• Talked about Johnno and that it was impossible to dig up any dirt about him and that he is perfect and unfortunately he can’t say one bad thing about him – Johnno followed up on that and said…”Boydy” I will handpass it to you this week” more laughter.

• Mentioned he is getting married in October and talked about him proposing to his fiancée in Fiji whilst strolling along the beach.
• Asked about his involvement in “Dancing with the Dogs” and said that he had a few moves planned.

• He is doing a Commerce degree and has 6 months to go till completion.

• He is a very funny bloke and he would throw in one liners at every opportunity.

Henry Jolson QC

• Handles the ‘legal issues’ at the Dogs

• Talked about the Eagleton suspension – was asked by an audience member why we didn’t plead provocation – he responded that Eagle’s timing with the punch would be hard to prove it was provocation as it wasn’t instantaneous

I'm booked in for next week already.

When I rang to book, I was told that Ryan Hargrave was on, not Ryan Griffin.

Maybe I heard it wrong.

Good report there Aqua, thanks. I agree that the atmosphere wasn't the same (plus it seemed a lot smaller). I didn't like the atmosphere at Spotswood railway station either! It will fantastic when the new facilities are up and running.

The whole banter about Johnno never handballing was very funny and Andrejs Everitt would have to be one of the most laid back footballers ever. Rowdy!

Thanks for the report Aqua, I forgot to give one about last week's show with Morris and Minson, but that was great too.

great report Aqua

thats good to see cross taking griffen under his wing, gee think how good it would be if they worked together for the rest of the season and pre season, and griffen followed crossy's hard work

btw Pugsta what was wrong with spotty station:(:p;)

and has spotty rsl changed much after the fire there some time back

If Griff could get his fitness up to the level that Cross is at he could play midfield for a game which would be great to see.

he'll get there, and a pre season with cross will only help

...btw Pugsta what was wrong with spotty station:(:p;) ...

The station itself was fine. However, I had to stand in the rain avoiding 3 very drunk, loud 20+ year old males, one of whom thought it was quite acceptable to urinate in public. I hazard a guess that they were all single. The train couldn't come quick enough - and it didn't!

Ring the club on 9680 6100 and they can tell you who is going to be on for the rest of the season. Up to Round 22 anyhow.

gee i wished i lived in melb for the footy season...very jealous.

That's why I try and put up a report whenever I go, so that our interstate/country supporters that don't get a chance to go can at least have a read about what goes on at these nights. I know - small compensation but better than nothing. :)

Next time you come down to Melb during the footy season...try and make it so you can go to a Selectors Table.
