Seeing that the VAFA may not have a rep game next year, remember how I came up with the suggestion of a 'Section of Origin'? Well, why not try something else, like a North v South match, this one the senior version (because they already have match like this at Under 19 level). Pick a team from the northern region of the VAFA (yes this include old boys clubs) to take on a team from players from the southern region of the VAFA, from all sections except Under 19. This game will act as a full scale selection trial for the Victorian team next time the VAFA plays a rep match against either the Southern Football League or the VCFL (or even interstate football). After all, if the Under 19s can have a North v South match, why not also try it at senior level? If 'Section of Origin' can't work, why not consider this idea. The result of the game would mean very little. It's all about getting players ready for representative football. One of the reasons why the VAFA didn't have a good year at rep footy last year was that most players found it hard to make the necessary jump from club to rep football. The VCFL already have a model in place to help players get ready for representative football, with the VCFL Championships, but the VAFA doesn't have a similar model like their country counterparts.

If im not mistaken i dont believe the u19s have a north v. south game, i know it was scheduled but i think due to the late start of the season, it is now not going to go ahead, i maybe wrong though, i just havent heard anything about it!

The Under 19s did have a North v South game last year as a curtain raiser to the VAFA-Southern Football League match but due to the late start this year it was postponed. It may be brought back next year as a possible curtain raiser to the senior 'North v South' match, should it ever happen.

Or why not do it as NZ Rugby has for donkeys years, have a Possibles vs Probables game as a prelude to final All Blacks selection. Always top notch as the Possibles play their hearts out for a spot and the Probables have a point to prove.

I reckon the VAFA should have two games on that day, no club games. A Under 19-23 North v South match, to be followed by the senior North v South game. And whoever plays well in these two games gets a possible start in a Big V jumper.

I reckon there's one poster on this forum who is seriously starting to annoying the vast majority of the others with inane suggestions about rep footy and inter-section competitions which simply have no logical basis or practical purpose.

Anyone who understands what Ammo footy is about and how it works would have to agree.

Give it a rest please.
