Can anyone shed any light on why Sandringham seem to have so many VAFA players? They seem to have 8-10 on the release list every week and come from all different clubs. Do VFL clubs have a max number on their lists or is just unlimited?

I was involved with a club that had players on VFL lists that couldn't crack a game with the firsts. How depressing, doing a VFL pre-season only to play VAFA 2's. These guys are obviously young, dumb and full of cum. Kidding themselves, but you can't knock a bloke for having a crack no matter how much they overrate their ability.
Personally, I think young players are better off trying to dominate in the VAFA or a local league to prove their worth to AFL scouts. I think more players from the AFL were drafted from the 'burbs/VAFA than the VFL, which only contains AFL reserves and hacks making up the numbers.

Yeah I tend to agree. But does that mean that anyone is able to walk into a VFL club and they put you on their list?

Probnably because the local clubs around their area are mostly VAFA teams!
Box Hill release similar numbers each week, but only 2 or 3 go to VAFA and 6-10 go to the Eastern FL. Northern are the same - but a lot of them go to the Northern Football League. And so on and so on.

This is our boy Guy Martyn. He lives around the corner from me and has an unusually big jughead. He plays for Hampton Rovers when the Zebs release him.
