Just posted on the main board, and was confirmed by Jim Boy as being true. Apparently coaches are going to replace the trains, but with delays of upto 60 minutes.

This has to be the most stupidest thing I have seen in a long time.

Possibly some kind of strike??

strike called off at around 12:15 so hopefully people will still get there. The union did nothing for their public sympathy by pulling this stunt

Yes as Catman said, the trains are back up at Weribee.

What a bunch of scumbags. I mean really, it is goign to effect only one grop of people (ie Geelong fans) so it is targeted at one group. Add in that it is a Sat (when most would be off) and they really are making a point arent they?

Still >85k people there though, so didn't seem to affect the crowd too badly :D

Obviously didn't really effect the crowd in the end, but seriously pathetic effort to strike when they did.

Spoke to some people on the tram, on the way to the G from Flinders Street. They had to quickly change their plans and drive up. Too bad if you're a kid, elderly, etc who may have no access to a car for whatever reason. I know I relied on the Geelong trains to get to KP when I was younger.

God I was pissed off, we got to Geelong station at 9.20, only to be told that there was an 'industrial dispute', and that 'long delays' were expected.

Bloody unbelievable, lucky we've got our driving licenses, and the designated driver was brave enough to drive into Melbourne... I know I'm not, lol.

My 16 year old brother was lucky enough to get onto the first bus, even though he only got to the station at 11:15, but it still took him over two hours to get to the ground after changing to the train at Werribee and stopping all stations into the city.
