Embley was terrible! Didn't hurt the opposition at all with his possessions

5. Q. Lynch - good target up forward with limited opportunity
4. M. Rosa - pretty good game... how about playing him purely as a mid rather than at half forward?
3. R. Jones - did his usual job at half foward... tried hard
2. A. Hunter - one of his better games for the year
1. M. Priddis - puts himself in the play and gets plenty of the pill, though doesn't hurt the opposition with his disposal and looks slow at times

Armstrong = SOFT

Feel sorry for him as he obviously doesn't possess natural courage, but I'm sick of seeing him drop the head or flinch when he should be taking an easy mark. Classic example today, running back to take a mark in the F50 and dropped it when he saw C. Cornes out of the corner of his eye. Used to be a good disposal by foot but seems to have lost that attribute too.

Selwood is fast becoming the new Chad Fletcher! I swear every one of his kicks went to a Port player.

Anyway no good can come out of venting my spleen although there are some issues guys, the heart was missing.

Agreed he wasn't great.

But he managed one vote from me just due to him actually running and getting the ball (more than most).

A couple of times where he shirked the issue and refused to put his head over the ball also pissed me right off.

How can anyone hate a player so much that they just can't see what is right there before their eyes ?Not true at all, he is not damaging in the tiniest bit. I don't hate rojo at all i just think in best circumstances and a full squad he wouldn't be in it. I can't see that he did much, i will watch the replay this week on fox and update my opinions if i think i need to but really i doubt i will.

He had the ball 25 times and found a target nearly every time. You say he was 'pathetic', because he wasn't 'damaging'.

Dont forget the 1 goal, but I gave it to him because he chased all day, was about the only one putting pressure on the ball player. And who sed you need to be a prolific ball winner to gain votes, he showed he had real heart on saturday.

I know that alot of you guys like Rojo but open you eyes he is a hack and always will be..... that kick heading into the forward 50 in the first quarter went along the ground i mean cmon.

He may dominate WAFL but he is less than servicable in my opinion. I thought he was changing at the start of last year but hes fallin back into his old hack ways his disposal is disgusting

As for Armstrong he's performance on the weekend shows he is not to AFL standard. He had the biggest opportunity to keep himself in the team and showed nothing

I was at the game and Ports hardness single handedly destroyed us.. the amount of times they busted the packs open and brushed us away was disgraceful and will some1 pick up that bloody cassisi!!!!

nevertheless i still have alot of confidence in our boys we just need the hunger back and hopefully a game against our biggest rivals in recent times is enough to get us ticking again

ps Rojo = hack

Was that the one where he ran from half-back along the wing to the forward 50 and touched the ball three times in the one passage of play? No wonder he had nothing in the legs for the kick

Ok... that probably explains how he racked up so many touches, but still proves how he is not AFL standard. Look at Shannon Hurn did the exact same thing deep into the last quarter and pumped it into the forward 50.

Players are required to run and link up through games consistently and if he cant kick after running something like 150-200 metres what is he doing?

I personally agree with Juddtastic.

But for everyone that harps on about team sacrifices that Rojo makes, and his role is important to the side, it is then ironic that Selwood doesn't rate as much of a mention. On a day when his side was beaten by 91 points, he tagged the best opposition player and kept him to 14 possessions. Given the one sidedness of the contest that is a super effort.

Big Man
18th July 2007, 18:36
Selwoods disposal of late is very, very, ordinary.

I think all of his kicks went straight to the opposition.

But he is a super tagger and we have missed praising him after his efforts this year. :thumbsu:

I'll admit I overlooked Selwood because I didn't notice until it was pointed out here. But yes, that is a fantastic effort.

However, you speak of irony...it's funny then, for you to rave about Selwood's performance on the weekend...but where were you after say, the Bulldogs final last year...regarding the job RoJo did on the numerous Bulldogs half-backs he played on? You no doubt noticed how little run the Dogs got off half back? Not many people noticed how much of that was due to RoJo, but I bet your weren't so quick to pipe up then.

That was also coming a week after he picked up 30+ touches (atleast 27 or 28 of which were effective) against Sydney. Back to back weeks playing contrasting roles with excellence...at the most important time of the year aswell.

This is a perfect example of one of the mindless drones who sees one bad kick from Jones and decides he had a terrible game.

Mate all you have to do is watch a game that he plays in and you'll see how bad his disposal really is.... Its not how many times you get it necessarily but what you do with it

If he really is that good why doesn't Woosha let him play his own game instead of assigning him 'roles' all the time?

Where was I after the finals last year? Actually I wasn't a bigfooty member. If I truly thought Rojo did a job that wasnt able to be done by a player with better hardness, skills and class I would give him credit.

But simple answer, didnt realise bigfooty existed and therefore didn't post at all.

I actually never look at the stats before giving out my votes. I try to give them based on a players efforts and the effect they have on the game. I have given Hurn votes before, thinking he was quite influential, and then been surprised to find later that he only had 12 possessions.

Name the player that can do that for us then.

Obviously it would be interesting to work out who has a big engine, but I've always said using Hurn to cut off their run would be a great idea, so when/if he can turn the ball over on the wing, instead of having to wait for a handball option he can just pump it back in the 50. With Hansen back, it will mean we will have enough tall forwards to have that option.

I just don't think a player with as lowly skills as Rojo has, and very often goes to ground and is out of the contest easily, should be playing the top level of football. At full strength, Hansen Cousins and Hurn along half forward wouldnt be at all bad.
