Pakistan's leading batsman and fitness fanatic, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has just scored 329, one of the highest Test scores ever and just shy of Pakistan's highest Test score, against New Zealand in Lahore today.

It's certainly a great achievement, although any attack containing Chris Harris in it can't be considered a high-quality one. Even Shoaib Akhtar managed to score 37. Their one quality bowler, Daniel Vettori who managed to bedazzle the Australian batsmen during last summer's Test series, was smashed around for 1-178 off 40 overs.

It makes one look forward to the upcoming one-day series in Australia and the Test series in Pakistan in September. Australia have had the wood on them in recent times, but unlike most sides, Pakistan are capable of beating them when at their best.

Wasn't Lahore the ground Mark Taylor scored 334 no a couple of years ago?

yup, that's where Taylor got his 334, graveyard for bowlers it seems!

Well done to Inzy, probably Pakistans best bat at the moment, though I personally rate Yousef Youhana pretty high too.

Thanks LondonDave.

Wagstaff I wouldn't worry about the figures for Vettori then wait and see what he does in the next two tests before making a judgement.

Well done to Inzy on his fantastic innings of 329. It takes a hell of a lot of skill and concentration to make such a big score and knowing the way he bats, it would have been very entertaining as well!! :):)

We didn't bowl out the Kiwis once in three tests over the summer so we must be pretty sh*t too.

last time i checked we were on top of the ICC table. doesn't mean we always bowl teams out, or win every test, just that we will do it more often that other nations. our overall record stands up quite well compared to the kiwis'.

anyway, kiwis got thrashed. their worst ever loss, and the 5th biggest test match loss in the history of the game. why didn't Shoaib Akhtar bowl in the second innings? he was on a hat-trick after taking the last two wickets in the first innings. i thought he might bowl once a bunny was on strike to give him a chance at the hat-trick.

Inzy used a runner during the morning session, citing cramp. The Kiwi skipper refused him one in the afternoon, apparently because he was concerned that the runner was faster over the ground.

A cruel slur on the ul-Haq athletic ability:)

Would have got the test over with even quicker.

Last time I checked New Zealand is in the top half of ICC table as well. Doesn't mean we always bowl teams out, or win every test, just that we have managed to do it as often as other nations, at least among the selective criteria used by the ICC to measure comparative worth.

Mind you I was unaware New Zealand is the standard that Australian cricket is to be measured by.

Quite the compliment I suppose.

Certainly the Black Caps have fashioned such an imposing record over the last 70 years, hell Australia only managed to beat New Zealand once in our first 51 years of test status, that one must be considerate to foreigners who all hide a deep envy of our history of constant achievement and excellence.

What the CNZ has accomplished the ACB can only dream about, clearly despite your observations Australia has a long way to go to qualify as a team of our class.

Watch in the second test for a similar result.

They say the rain is a great leveller in sport, but it is not nearly as effective as 40 degree temperatures, dysentry, chronic injuries, and a short list.

The team physio has only had to field so far, maybe in the next test he will finally get picked to start in the playing XI.

If I honestly thought this was the New Zealand 1st XI getting smashed then I would be more than a little worried, but frankly in the circumstances I don't give a damn.

Four test series in a row, with hundreds of ODI in between is to much cricket. Literally looking at the New Zealand bowling attack.

Pakistan come over here and stink up the place, no reason why we can not return the compliment.

And I forgot to mention that it was a great effort by the Potato.

Red + Black, I can't help it if the Kiwis cant bat!!!...obviously a pretty fast spell by shoaib...the only way you can clean teams up on a good deck...QUICK INTIMIDATING BOWLING...if it aint swinging, turning or seaming, you cant beat raw pace!

Interesting that he seemed to be a little to crook to front up for the second dig.....

With the amount of cricket being played, it seems to favour the 'bigger' countries...as inevitable injuries occur, those with the greatest depth will prevail...hence NZ's plight...
