Five minutes to go in the Hawks v Tiges game, ball gets kicked to Thorp on the Southern Stand wing, gets spoiled by King. However, central umpire Goldspink went too early with the whistle for the mark, and he comes in and tells the two players he's going to have to ball it up because he, Goldy, made a mistake in officiating. Then comes the punchline as the camera gets a closeup of his disgusted expression as he prepares to bounce it up...

"GRRRRRRR!"

Funniest thing I've seen at the footy this year. Good to have the Spinkster back for comedic value, just as long as he doesn't umpire any Hawks v Dons games.

Did the right thing though. How many times do you see a mark paid that is dropped, because the ump thinks its an easy mark and blows too early.

Good on him. Looks like he decided that he would look like a dill there and then, and get out of it the fairest way to both teams.

if he really wanted to be critical of his own performance he would stop umpiring all together!

Good in theory but he won't.

Damn good on him should be more of it..to hear an ump apologise for a stuff up and rectify it can only make the players respect them more.
