Irresistable. Irreplaceable. Not a fan of dodoro, but must take my hat off in this case. I would say that every club would be going "****, how did we miss him" Sensational footballer. Sensational.

Steal of the draft?
Steal of the draft?
Hard to call him the steal yet when 3/4s are yet to play but defintely the best first year performer in '07!
Genuine man crush material is young Alwyn

Steal of the Draft..hard to compare, Alwyn is a mature aged rookie. I like the look of Westhoff as the steal of the draft from Port.

Has been fantastic for us with forward pressure, wonder why no-one took him before us or in previous drafts

We desperately miss Alwyn Davey with his pace and pressure in the forward line. Hopefully he might be back later in the year if we make the finals.

i think that Alwyn might make an appearance in round 22, but only if we have to win against west coast to make the finals.

Man I wish he was back :( He just adds so much in terms of running, tackling and pressure. As soon as he broke it, we have gone downhill :(:(

Just watching him play...what a little excitement machine!
I'm getting excited for 08 already!! :thumbsu:
me too. i've heard that dempsey, jetta and davey are already in the gym training hard for next year. i think davey just has the right attitude whilst the other two are looking to cement their spots in our midfield. we will be an exciting team with lovett, dempsey, davey, jetta and winders in the same team. i'd like to see winders provide run off the back flankmuch like a gilbee or a mackie

This boy. Is that good. He should be. On top of the heap.
Video of some of his finest work...
Takes ages to load but worth it:D

BTW not my video
yeah hes a gun alright. possibly the most valuable player for essendon in the next 10 years. His footy instincts, spark, speed and deadly kick on goal are priceless, and will lift anyone playing with him. seems to play and kick even better the more pressure hes under. will never let the team down. Why melb didnt take him 2 team up with his brother is puzzling or any other club with earlier picks, but im happy he joined the bombers as hes already made an impact in his own right and must have a passion for the club!!!! I knew what he was capable of as he played for my club in Darwin, along with his brother, matty stokes and trent hentchel. fair breeding ground the old north darwin footy club. :)
not sure about the most valuable, but definitley an important piece of the puzzle
I may b bit biased, but he is exhilarating and could produce a spark to ignite an atom bomb. a definate piece of any worthy puzzle, spot on.

You gotta love him but another with room for improvement which is great.
I reckon he missed quite a few shots that he should have kicked this year particularly from set shots.
Fitness is probably another area he could help himself. He could run that little bit longer, he'd be a more viable option to get into that midfield rotation and if he was able to genuinely play in the midfield then imagine what he'd offer.
I hope he becomes more than a lightning small forward as I reckon he could offer the team a huge shot in the arm as well as becoming a more complete player.
Never in my life have I got excited about supporting someone to go and tackle.
Love watching him chasing and bringing someone down from behind. I've never thought of wearing a number on my gurnsey since Wanganeen left. I guess it's time to get a number.
Not sure if he will change from 29...
I LUV Davey!!!! He is my favourite for Essendon! Dont mind his bro.. hes just playing for the wrong team thas all!! But Davey is a gun! Cant wait to see what he produces in 2008!!! Does anyone know how his arm is going?

Where did he finish in the time trial? Does anyone know? I saw him finish off on Bomber TV but didn't get his result.
he finished in the middle of the second group. that means that he probably ran high 11 minutes

I love Alwyn! The way he kicks those goals, the way he chases down players - that really lifts the team.

He played very well when he played in the midfield. He is strong, good disposal, fast(very fast) and know's how to get through traffic. Gun

The only way to stop him, is to bash him out of the game. A few teams tried last year and it was geelong that finally caught up with him. Last night footscray tried, particularly in the 3rd quarter. I said to myself " Don`t get him angry he`ll make you pay" We had lift off. He is getting close to my all time favourite this fella.

And if you look closely you will see a fat Essendon bastard waddling down from the Grog Squad standing room in his Arsenal shirt ready to salute the goal well before he kicked it !
Has this bloke ever played a bad game?

He gives us this injection of speed into the side..
so quick, great tackles and also good side steeping around players.
He will be missed in the Anzac day clash..
and I bloody hope this injury isnt season ending like they have said on the footy show.:(
massive lost. his tackling and pressure is even more valuable than his creativity and goal kickick ability
Contrary to the AFL site, Alwyn Davey isn't definately out for the season.
Monday is the determinate day.

In our most important 5 players already. Great pickup
given how essendon was tracking last season and this season before he went down the statistics say he may be the bombers barometer. for such a little bloke you wouldn't think so but is he that important?
i notice on the efc website in the injury list it says he will undergo operation in the next couple of weeks. this injury was a month ago - surely he would have had the reco by now!

According to the EFC website, he hasn't hat the reconstruction yet. Why wouldn't they have done it by now?
From the website:

Davey has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require a full reconstruction. He is expected to have surgery in the next week or two.

Davey has first run following major knee injury

The famously fast right leg of Alwyn Davey is feeling stronger by the day following a season ending injury during training in April. Davey tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and needed a full reconstruction.
He is currently three months into his 10-12 month recovery.
“I just started walking and light jogging exercises on Wednesday,” he said.
“Before that I have been doing a little bit of other leg work like squats and leg press to try and get the muscles right in my leg.
“To keep fit I have mostly been doing swimming and a bit of bike, speed ball - basically anything that keeps you off your feet.
“There is no pain at all now (in the knee) so it’s all good – it probably stopped hurting about a month ago.”
Davey, 24, said he is determined not to rush things and will work under the guiding eye of rehabilitation coach, Mark Cera.
“I have spent about nine weeks with Mark now and it all seems to be going well,” Davey said.
“He isn’t working me hard at this stage but after about four months I will start to step it up.”
The goal sneak is keen to build up his strength in the gym to better cope with the physical pressure of the AFL.
The father of three says it has been a disappointing season following his impressive debut year in 2007 (which was also cut short with a broken arm).
He won the club rising star award but, in 2008, hasn’t been able to consistently deliver on the promise that the club and fans know he can.
With 19 AFL games to his name Davey is now simply looking forward to 2009.
“When they told me (about the knee injury) I was sad to hear the news but after a week or so I got over it and started looking forward to next year,” he said.
“I just can’t wait to get back on the field and play with my team-mates.”
An area that has been keeping him busy during rehab is his commitments after winning the 2007 AFL Army Award (see photo).
He recently joined Glen Archer in Darwin (Davey’s home town) for the launch of the Defence Jobs U/17s Academy, a new initiative designed to foster young NT footballers.
Davey and Archer helped out with drills, and then split the group into two teams - Team Davey and Team Archer and Team Davey.- and they coached opposing teams, with Team Archer coming out as the overall winners.

What is this rumour circulating about Davey not getting along well with Knights and possibly wanting out by seasons end (rumoured to be Melbourne to be with Aaron)?
Anyone know what is happening here? Any truth behind the rumour?

The first that's been heard of this rumour was from a Melbourne poster known as 'davey_magik' or something to that effect.
Given we've heard nothing else of this rumour, one would think that it's a kid dreaming of uniting the two Daveys.

2 more years for Alwyn. :thumbsu:
ESSENDON has rebuffed interest from Melbourne in Alwyn Davey and will re-sign the youngster on a two-year deal next week. Davey, who is already training after a knee reconstruction early this year, has agreed to terms on a new deal.
It is the last of Essendon's key signings, with coach Matthew Knights intent on focusing on the 2009 season.
