He is a gun bloody oath. But why not send Lucas to CHB and give Ryder a couple of weeks up forward to get his confidence up a bit? I think he could be one of the best forwards.
I think he just needs to be settled down back to tell you the truth.
His time up forward hasn't been great, and he looks most comfortable down back.
Not to mention, he's going to be needed at CHB for quite a while going into the future.
For those wanting Paddy to play in the ruck or up forward should have a look at Knighters latest Bomber.TV interview.
CHB will be his spot for a long time yet by the sound of things.

No complaints from me there. It's hard to find defenders as good as Paddy has been.

Obviously he needs to bulk up, but does anyone else rate Patty Ryder as a potential ruckman?

Not for at least a few years, he's an excellent prospect as a key-defender and if CHB is his prefered position, why move him?

Agree 100% and i believe he will be a damn fine one for years to come, especially once he bulks up his upper body. I thought that was his big problem against Franklin, ie being pushed out of position too easily

firstly, i love paddy ryder as much as the next bombers fan, so I just want a rumour I've heard confirmed as bullshit... sighs.. here goes... a friend of mine (who has a strong contact within the football world, moreso, windyhill) has been telling me for weeks that paddy ryder is leaving essendon in the PSD. I havent seen anything anywhere to suggest that he's leaving either here, the EFC website or any other rumour site, so I'm calling bullshit. But this person is so certain about it that she's even laid a bet with me and ends all txt msgs and facebook messages with a reference to Ryder leaving. And what is scary is her "contact" would probably know. At first I thought she was just talking shit, but it's been going on for too long now and I just wanna know if anyone else has heard this or anything of the like or can i expect a big wad of cash coming my way in a month or so?

Ryder can't go into the PSD, he is contracted until the end of 2009.
