He looks to have some potential as a defender. He seems to read the flight of the ball well and also seems to have a good spoil.

Reminds me of NLM.

Soft. Lacks any real physical presence and comes across being way to cruisey. Yes I know he just returned from a shoulder injury. His game against the Bullants was shocking. Not enough intensity when he chased, tackled, bumped or attempted to spoil.
Is more laid back then Paddy and that's saying something.
:thumbsd:
he has talent though. he is worth persevering with.
Will he be on the senior list next season?
Not out of the question now that Lloydy's moved outside the list.

I hope he continues to work hard on the track and can really lift his intensity levels. Has the class about him.
he will remain on the rookie list
Has a bit of talent. He just needs to turn glimpses into full game performances. His long range snap and a 30m handpass were demonstrations of real ability IMO.

He would want to have a very good season at Bendigo if he is going to extend his AFL career.

Hasn't done anything to impress me yet and doesn't looks tall enough for KPP. Bendigo is as far as he'll get

Very raw
Shoulda lubed up, avoid that chafing
Upside is huge, still needs to improve his work ethic though.
Loved that he had the nuts to put on the afterburners and take on the saints player in the last quarter. On talent alone he should be good enough to get promoted, the question is though does he want it bad enough?

Didn't his Father quit due to a lack of passion? Liked the mark he took on the siren at half team

Are you crazy?
He is probably the worst footballer to ever wear the Essendon jumper.
He was nuts to try and run around an opponent when he had better options. No awareness or footy smarts.
Poor skills, poor footy brain, no ticker and he can play 100 years and he'll barely be VFL standard.

You really don't like the rookies, do you Kelvin?
My opinion of Dean Dick is that he's got a long way to go. He's certainly got the flair, he just doesn't have the basics to play consistent AFL football at the moment.
Who knows if he ever will develop the basics, but if he could he may end up a very handy player.
We shouldn't be banking on him making it, but we should recognise what he could bring to the table.

Well i am responding to another one of your quality posts so yes, most likely i am nuts.

really? the worst? Not bad for a 19 year old in his second year.

It's called taking a risk, when an opposition is playing you tight it helps to break up the play every now and then. What a boring game it would be if these blokes never backed their abilities.

I stopped reading after poor skills, you've obviously never watched the kid if you believe that. He lacks a proper work ethic at the minute but that can be taught, talent can't.

I like the way this bloke goes about it.

Really?
I think he is lazy and has no hope of making it as an AFL player.

Agree, although if he pulls his head in, he may be given a chance.

I think he is lazy but if he pulls his finger out he has every chance of making it.

Watched him carefully on sat. Will be kicked off the rookie list at the end of this year.
He's not a tall defender whatsoever.
Should be playing off half back, but I'd question his commitment to work back in that attacking role.
Great natural talent, just doesn't have the mind frame to use it.

He actually went ok for Bendigo yesterday. Showed some intensity and aggression which was good. Still lacks in 2nd and 3rd efforts...
Interesting times ahead...

Absolutely no chance, no way in hell, nothing, zip, nadda, zero chance of ever playing AFL.. ever, never ever.
Stevie Wonder would have more awareness on the field than Dick.
Softer than a packet of marshmallows.

Has the talent but not the commitment or work ethic yet. Would give him another rookie contract. Has more potential than most of our list imo.

got th talent, needs the work ethic. promote him, see how he goes
may as well keep him as a rookie. is that allowed for more than 2 years?

Don't like the look of this kid at all to be honest. May have talent but doesn't have the work ethic or consistency in his game

Where is he at the moment? Not injured, yet never listed for Bendigo.
i heard hickmott questioned his commitment recently.
whatever the case it would be extremely doubtful he'd be retained as a rookie in 09.

HE's a second year rookie so its all or nothing with us.
Given our injury list - lets face it - not getting a game is a very bad sign for all of those who are not playing.
will not be at the club next year
will not be at the club next year
he's already left I think.
Got told about 3 weeks ago his time was up. Cracked the sads and got on a one way plane to Perth to cuddle up to Willy.

Looked to have natural ability, but had zero commitment so I'm not surprised he cracked it when they told him, which they were always going to do. A shame really, he could have made it if he put in as much effort as Atkinson IMO.
