Who do you guys think would make it into the VAFA 'Team of the Year' based on players current form in A-D4 football (excluding club 18, Under 19s)? And speaking of 'Teams of the Year', instead of the team being picked by the scribe writing that particular section, should the team be picked by the VAFA Executive or the state selectors?

Yep - give it to the VAFA Exec. - they know what they're doing for sure. :thumbsu:

My own thoughts on this is it's better to hand the selection process over to the state selectors rather than the Amateur Football scribes for two reasons:

1) The state selectors in the lead-up to a state game (ie against SA) watch more games than the Amateur Footballer scribes do and therefore have some idea of who's in form and who's not in form before picking the team.

2) It will give the state selectors a chance to pick the side with an eye to the future, seeing which players would be ready for state football down the track and at the same time reward players for their club form throughout the year. Especially given the poor form of the VAFA rep sides throughout this year (1 win from 4 games). The days of total domination by the VAFA in either representative or State of Origin football is gone, for now at least....

Will only happen if the Team of the Year selection conference is an all-expenses-paid trip north of the border with the VAFA clubs footing the bill for the VAFA selectors to play golf, sink pi$$ and then come back with the TOTY for all of us plebs to whack off over.

The match will obviously have to fit in will Ulbrich's schedule, a time when he's not at BP.

I'm told that he does some of his very best work around 7.15 pm.
