Hi Footy fans...

The top two clubs of the SANFL are just itching to get another shot at each other after they completely dominated in their matches this past weekend, but that will have to wait for another few weeks until their encounter which will take place under the lights at the Ponderosa. Also, one player came back to haunt his previous SANFL side, inflicting a demoralising loss on his former team and coach. So lets see what went on, eh?

Welcome to this week's edition of the SANFL Wrap-Up for Round 15.

First we head to the Unley Oval, where the first of two "mirror image" matches on Saturday arvo took place on ABC television between the second placed Double Blues and the eighth placed Panthers. A focused Blues mob would start proceedings for the day with a 6.4 to 4.1 first quarter, the home side up by 15 points at the first change. In the second quarter the Blues ripped off the shackles and kicked 8.2 to South's two solitary goals to extend the lead to 47 points by half-time. After the long break, the punishment continued for the visitors, another eight goals from 13 scoring shots to South's 1.3 pushed the margin out to a massive 97 points by the final change. The Blues just relaxed it from here, but still only allowed 1.3 to South while bagging 3.4 for themselves. South would have been thankful that the Blues weren't anymore accurate in goal, but going down by 110 points would be more than damaging to the Panther psyche. Brant Chambers would continue his relentless charge toward the Ken Farmer Medal, bagging nine goals and best afield votes. South named Jarrad Wright as their best.

Up in the northern suburbs at Hamra Homes Oval, the other major mis-match was on between top placed Central District and lowly placed West Adelaide. Overcoming what would be considered a slow start by many Dogs fans, where the Dogs inaccuracy at goal was most problematic, the expected runaway game began. In the first term, the Dogs kicked 3.7 to West's 1.1. But the second quarter brought more rewards, with the Doggies kicking 8.2 to the Bloods 2.1 to be up by 55 points at the long break. The home side had a flawless time in goals for the third quarter, kicking five straight goals without a miss while the Bloods managed 1.2, putting the three-quarter time margin out to 77 points. Again the Bulldogs would leave the Bloods in their dust, smashing through another 7.3 to 2.2 to win by 17 goals. Daniel Havelberg had a good afternoon in goal, booting through five goals but it was Chris Gowans who was named best for the Dogs, while Marc Dragicevic was voted best afield for West.

The next day over at the Challenge Recruitment Oval, the Tigers faced the Redlegs in what probably would have been classed as the match of the round going by the closeness of the scores in each term. Inaccuracy, however, was the Tigers' enemy to begin with. Glenelg kicked 3.8 to Norwood's 3.3 for the first quarter, keeping the door open for the visitors early on. The Redlegs took the lead at the half time break by one point, after kicking 6.1 to 5.1 in the second quarter. It was an arm wrestle in the third quarter, both teams level in the goals tally but Glenelg in front on behinds. The Tigers' kicked 4.3 to the Redlegs 3.4 to be up by four points at three-quarter time. The scene was set for a tense final quarter. Despite the Redlegs not giving up easily, the inaccuracy bug was passed over as they sprayed several shots on goal. The Tigers held the visitors off long enough, kicking 4.4 to 2.7 to win by 13 points. Ben Moore was the main contributor for Glenelg and was named best, while Norwood named Bryce Campbell as their best.

In the final match of Round 15, the Roosters hosted the luckless Magpies at Prospect Oval... the Magpies luck was about to change! Never has there been a match so anticipated than this one, the return of former Rooster Danny Hargraves to his former stomping ground. His transfer to the Port would come back to bite North in the backside as the 'Pies kicked 4.3 to North's three lousy behinds in the first term. Hargraves had a major hand in the Roosters destruction today, in the second quarter the Magpies raced out to a 52 point lead. The Roosters finally got a goal here, but it was only when the 'Pies had 8.6 on the board when that happened. It was 12.9 to 4.5 at the long break. Not much went on in the third quarter, this was the only period that North outscored Port but the visitors were still up by 45 points. North's finals aspirations were officially thrown into disarray, maybe not in ladder position but certainly in their manpower. It was score for score in the last quarter, both teams kicking 3.2. The drought was finally over for Port, winning by 45 points. Hargraves kicked 7.3, but was also reported for high contact. James Meiklejohn that was named best afield for Port, while North named James Allan as their best.
