View Full Version : Possible West Coast Trade

West Coast's Forward line has been under heavy scrutiny, because of it's lack of height abd permanent forwards the only permanent forwrds are Staker and Lynch and I think, they will be interested in 1 of our many tall guys forwards for a good draft pick or a key midfielder, Priddis, Rosa or Chad Fletcher. What do you think.
matty lloyd the champ
19 Jul 2007, 17:58
No forward would interest them.
Johns ?
Not lloyd or lucas, who else
Both bradley and Johsn are WA boys.
i doubt we'd be interested in either bradley or johns...especially not for a good draft pick or priddis/rosa/fletcher.
We have forwards, just none are superstars. If we were going to trade for one, we would want a damn good one.

Chad Fletcher?
lol, why would we want a soft version of Peveril?
He is not what we should be looking at.

They also have Hansen, and Hunter if need be. They would want someone very good.

Doubt WCE, or anyone for that matter, would be interested in either.
chad flether is a very good footballer who i was hoping we would have a crack at last season. one year down the road and his best is probably behind him.
priddis could have left last year for more money but he wanted to stay in WA. he won't be leaving.
we would have to give up alot for rosa. he is a victorian boy and maybe if we draft his brother, who has been starring for bendigo, he may be interested. i know it's a long shot, but who knows.

No way would West Coast even consider trading either Priddis,Rosa or Fletcher!

No way would West Coast even consider trading either Priddis,Rosa or Fletcher! With the rest of their midfield like Chris Judd, Daniel Kerr, Ben Cousins, Michael Braun, Shannon Hurn, Rowan Jones and even occasionally Embley can play there, Why not?:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Your probably right about Fletcher, but the other 2 and even Braun, would be an option. Danny Chartes could be another we could give 2 them, but first i would like 2 see him play AFL and if he's worth keeping

I'd target Sam Butler if I was going to target anyone from West Coast.
He's only 20 or 21 and he has the ability to be an inside player as well as a receiver. That's what sets him apart from Rosa in my opinion.
West Coast have plenty of hard ball winners that provide constant feed to Rosa sitting off the pack. In simple terms, Essendon don't have those hard ball winners and I see Rosa struggling to have impact on matches. He doesn't quite fit what we need.
Chad Fletcher? Pass. Decent player but too old and lacking the best foot skills. Not what we're looking for.

Chartres? He's a rookie. West Coast will definately not be interested. If they were, they would've noticed him at Peel and rookied him themselves instead of repicking guys like Sharp, Thornton and Wilkes.
The chances of Michael Braun coming to Essendon are virtually nil. For what he is, he'd come with too high a price tag. I think we're better off gambling with a younger guy.

Sam Butler can't stay healthy. I don't think he has played a full season of AFL without being injured. Rosa has potential but I agree he isn't really what we need. They may be willing to palm off a Shannon Hurn or a Beau Waters for the right tall.
Both bradley and Johsn are WA boys.
Hate to burst your bubble but Johns is actualy a SA boy . He only spent two years in WA from aged 16 to 18 ;)

Good Move Eagles try and offload Fletcher prior to the end of season footy trip!! He might end up back in Vega’s and finish the job on himself. Two sips aka: Chad was trying to cram 4 night's in one Vegas day, if only he showed that kind of stamina on the field..
Keep him in WA on put him on the horse chuff program it's done wonder's for Benny Boy..HIS GUNS ARE MASSIVE

no chance. they are both very highly rated.
Not a chance with Hurn and Waters, both are required players at West Coast at the moment. Braun will retire with the Eagles so he wont be going anywhere.
And in the end we certainly wouldnt want Bradley or Johns anyway

Only player WC would deal for one of those 2 is Gumbleton.

No one's cursed, injuries happen but unless they're really serious, which Butler's haven't been, there's no reason to suggest he'll be injury plagued throughout his career. Butler's injuries are no deterrant, it might help West Coast forget how talented he is but that's where it ends.
The chances of Waters leaving are virtually none unless he wants to. He's probably been their best defender this year, they would want something massive in return. Shannon Hurn is highly rated at West Coast as said earlier in this thread. I can't seem him leaving and expecially not for Bradley or Johns. Whilst Waters and Hurn are handy players, they're not the players we need. We have plenty of half back flankers, let's chase midfielders.

West Coast would rather Hurn or Waters than Paddy Ryder?
I doubt it.

hmm possibly. But both are very highly regarded because of their character/leadership more than anything else. Ryder would be a luxury in WC side. They need Gumbleton.
Obviously Gumbleton wont be traded for Waters but I was just making a point on how highly regarded they are.

West coast will most likely be intrested in the following(that i think we can trade):
mark johnson
kepler bradley
courtney johns
adam mcphee??
mark bolton
they might start trade talks but we wouldnt get much for them... besides mcphee...

West Coast would not touch any of them.
Maybe Johns, I'd back him in any day over the lumbering steroid they have at FF now.
They would only touch Gumby and Neagle unfortunately.

Bloody hell, we have plenty of tall forwards, if we were going to trade for a forward, it would have to be a star forward (eg: Lucas).
Seriously, no chance would we trade for a player like Johns - none at all.

Adam Hunter is in a bad patch atm....it was suggested on radio here the other day that WC will look at offers regarding off loading Hunter in return for a draft pick and/or a key forward.
I could see him in an Essendon jumper.

Seriously, no chance would we trade for a player like Johns - none at all. Johns is a great player, who isn't given much space and time to leed into because of Lucas and Lloyd, being the spearheads, someone young, like Johns would be one of the players, that westcoast would be looking for. No it isn't you nut, we have plenty of young forwards, we're in premiership mode - if we were going to trade for a forward we would want a proven gun forward (Lucas, Fevola, etc).
Johns wouldn't even get a game with us ...

Disagree with that comment Chad Fletcher is a very underated player, he is a good kick and really could add something to our midfield. Peverill doesn't add anything he is a liability

Chad Fletcher picks up cheap possies and doesnt do much with them, he is a ordinary kick. Aint quick and soft.
Rather keep Pev.

WA is home.
So when he was a guest at the Bomer show and said if he wasnt playing footy in Melbourne he would return home to SA he being deliberately misleading ?

Beleive it or not, West Coast are not Carlton from a few years back.
There is no way in hell they would want to sacrifice three spots on their list for guys that almost definately wouldn't get a game. West Coast don't need to fill their list with more players but with more quality players.
Chad Fletcher, who is currently grabbing a bench position, is better than all 3 of those guys by a country mile.
I think West Coast may have some interest in Kepler Bradley but we would get no more than a fringe midfielder or an ordinary draft pick for him. Thankfully, their fringe midfielders are pretty handy and we may be able to strike a deal with them for a young bloke and come out of it pretty well.
It's quality not quantity.

Don't suppose he mentioned where his parents live or where he goes "home" to over Christmas?
Don't suppose he mentioned where his parents live or where he goes "home" to over Christmas?
Not everyone lives with their parents their whole lives .
Seriously he was asked a question about it and he said that Adelaide was home and thats where he would head back to when his footy was finished or if he wasnt playing footy. He said he is still in close contact with a number of his mates from SA and he gets back to see them when he can. Make of it what you will , i know where his parents live and why they moved there, i am simply stating what the man said when the question was put to him.
Chad Fletcher, who is currently grabbing a bench position, is better than all 3 of those guys by a country mile.
Good player in a great side. Would be next to useless in Essendon's current midfield. Similar to Blumfield and Heffernan of 99-01

Does anyone think off the rails Ashley Sampi is worth picking up!! If we got him on the cheap, the guy in full flight was magic. He could provide us with another useful target up forward or be put down back to provide some run.. Born in 83 and hails from East Freo he would fit in fine with Ryder, Jetta and the boyz

Give Hocking a chance next year - give him DVD's of Paul Chapman to watch over the summer and that's who he should mould his game on. A mid forward with a huge tank and grunt/upper body strength to provide a foil for Lucas, Lyodd and Davey...why not have 4 left footers in the forward line!!!

Lloyd for Judd, Interested?
West Coast generally don't trade unless they can get someone that will really offer something to the team over a few years eg Stinger and Chick. Johns isn't a better player than QL, Hansen or Staker so I can't see any interest on that front. Gumby or Ryder we may be interested in but they are the future KPP players of your club so why would you want to trade them?

Don't want any of those mids listed. Quite happy with Jobe/Winder/Stants growing into the nucleus of our midfield for the next 6 years....thrown in others coming through and I think we're onthe right track...
Am I the only one who is happy with our drafting over the last 3-4 years?
