Obviously not picked this week. How's he coming along? Is it more serious than we 1st thought? And if he is ready next week does he pop straight back in or go back to the 2s to regain some match fitness?

Oh, and BTW, if Charlie G performs in the 2s again I'm all for giving him a run in the seniors at some stage... maybe in the place of NAblett or Hawkins. I must admit I was deadset against him at the end of last year but I think he has showed some glimpses of good form this year. And our 2nd tall forward (Hawkins/NAblett) hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire recently.

You have got to be kidding. Charlie has been around for quite a while and in 51 AFL games has managed less than 1/2 a goal per game as a tallish forward. If Hawkins or Ablett kicked one per game they are twice the player CG is. You also need to note of Nabletts' goal assists when you look at his stats. By the way, did you notice Hawkin's nice little pass to Bartel when Tom grabbed the ball in the left forward pocket late in the game last week. He kicked the ball on his left foot to Bartel in the right pocket where he kicked the sealer. Nice peice of vision. He did not panic and blaze at the goals. Give the kid a go. He will need to work out how to deal with players who get in front of him to cut off his run at the ball.

all for giving charlie gardnier a run??? you have to be kidding, might as well chuck in henry playfair and steven king for a run. while we're at it, aim to pick up kent kingsley in trade week this year!
the only time you'll see tommy hawkins take a contested mark this year is if he had to fight billy brownless for an airborne kfc drumstick. the kid needs some conditioning and some decent form in the 2's before he plays regular senior footy. dont understand why nathan isnt back in the side as bomber pronounced him fit and firing to go (if u can say that about a disinterested kid):thumbsu:

I agree about Gardiner. You pick based on form, Gardiner's in top form in the twos, if a tall forward or two goes down bring him in, I say. Allows Mooney to stay closer to goal, and if he's got people streaming past him, Gardiner won't have to make a decision about who to kick to!

I'm a little surprised they didn't bring Nathan straight back to be honest. Hawkins has been good, but nothing special. Interesting move.....

Bit surprised that Nathan wasn't brought right in, but Tom did show some nice signs in that last quarter (the pass to Bartel was great vision and better execution on his wrong side) so perhaps the selectors are hoping he'll start hitting some better form. Will be interesting to see how he goes against the shorter dogs backline - wonder if Harris will take Tom or Moons?
